About

Quakers, stitches, and where did you find that?

There was once a White Elephant stall to raise money for Winchester Quaker Meeting House Restoration Appeal and there were a few items left over. We felt some of these could make a bit more money, and I had the idea of opening an Etsy shop to sell them. They looked a bit lonely, so I stitched a few cards to keep them company.

After which I decided to add a few Cornish items that I no longer displayed due to lack of free surfaces, and at this point my sisters started contributing their talents and discoveries to the shop.

We've now split the shop so handmade items appear at http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KnallyMade and we continue to present Cornish and Retro items here.

Why 'The Knally'? Well, this may be a Cornish dialect word, but it was definitely my father's word and means 'knack'. So when you managed to do something for the first time, he would say, "You've got the knally of it now!" I used it when I first set up a website which was about embroidery since it seemed apt, and I've used it ever since.

P.S. We have now finished on the restoration of the Meeting House, but still have loans to pay off, so some items continue to be sold for the appeal.

Payment
We accept Paypal, Credit Cards, and in the UK can accept personal cheques or bank transfers if you prefer.
Shipping
I will try and post any items the first day after purchase and use Royal Mail for all shipments. If you want a parcel to be sent 'Recorded Signed For' or have any other requirements then check with me before purchase.

I've tried to estimate the postage price to the nearest 50 pence which allows a little extra for buying envelopes, brown paper, tape etc although I usually reuse any boxes I've received to send parcels.

NOTE: In the UK, if you would like to use the low-price carriers like Collect+ or MyHermes, I'm willing to send parcels with them. I personally have had bad service in receiving parcels from them, but it does seem to depend on which area you're in.
Refunds and Exchanges
I try to describe and photograph any obvious defects with vintage items, which detract from the appearance, but there are often signs of wear and slight flaws particularly in the pottery items due to age.

If you are unhappy with a purchase you can return it and I'll provide a refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you have any problems with any purchase then feel free to contact me, and we can sort it out.
