Announcement   Welcome! The Lace Shepherdess offers spinning fiber, hand spun yarn, knitting bags, tools & other bits. May you find something that brings you joy.
I am a shepherdess. I spin, knit, bead, make bobbin lace, dye and make soap. I have been spinning for many years and it is really my first love. I have a flock of Coopworth & Shetland sheep that provide the fiber that I offer here. Two llamas live here as well.
I enjoy making knitting bags and various tools for spinning, wool combing and knitting.
I have been making soap for many years.I started making my own, as I have quite sensitive skin. My soap is very mild, a castile type with an olive oil base. People love my soap and have encouraged me to offer it here. I offer unscented as well for those who may have problems with scent.

Welcome to The Lace Shepherdess. I am a shepherdess, spinner, knitter, soap maker. I dabble in many other things. I have been spinning for many years and it is really my first love. Currently I have a flock of Coopworth & Shetland sheep. Two llamas live here as well. I have the fleeces professionally processed. I am happy to make a reserved order for you if you wish more fiber than what is listed for sale. Most of the time there is more in stock. Just convo me to see how much is in stock. Occasionally I offer batts and roving that I process myself. I try to have very clean products, but sheep do live outdoors so you may find a bit of vegetable matter here and there. Usually it falls out while spinning or can be easily removed.

I have been making soap for many years as I have very sensitive skin. My soap is very mild. A castile type. I enjoy making knitting bags and various tools for spinning, wool combing and knitting. My creativity flows in many areas.

Handspun yarn is unique. Please allow for slight variances from skein to skein. Items come from a smoke free, pet friendly home. If you have dog or cat allergies my products may not be for you. Skeins will vary in size and weight.
I will be happy to wind skeins into center pull balls free of charge at your request.

My bags are wonderful for your knitting projects or even as a weekend tote. "X" stitching on the handles for added strength and layers of batting for extra padding. Snap closures on flaps. Buttons, usually vintage are decoration only. Lots of pockets too.

Threading hooks are used both for threading fiber through a spinning wheel orifice and also with a diz when wool combing. The hook will fit in very small holes. The hooks are approx. 3-3.5 inches long. Beads are hand selected by me. If you have a color choice please let me know.

I have hand crafted the Diz from cow horn. Holes in three sizes allow you to adjust the diameter of the roving you are pulling off of your drum or hand carder.

Please note that all soap is hand made in small batches. (not melt and pour). There will be variations in size, appearance, color and shape. (see picture) I offer sets of three bars per order. I use only the finest food grade ingredients. I use olive oil for the base which makes a very mild bar. Some batches will contain goat milk. Some may contain ground oatmeal. I use the highest quality fragrance oils. Please note that soap batches take time to cure. If you have a special request and it is not in stock, it will take up to three weeks to process.

I do my best to take accurate pictures. Please keep in mind that colors will show differently on individual monitors.
