About

Make it pretty, keep it simple.

The Lion's Den Studio is a one woman operation made up of funky vintage items I've collected and my hand made arts and crafts. I love searching through flea markets and garage sales for slightly chipped and rusted vintage treasures, ready to be restored or re-purposed. I tend to collect pieces that I want for my own home and love to test them out before writing descriptions.

One of my favorite shop memories is of making waffle batter on a Wednesday afternoon, wondering the whole time if my 1950s waffle maker, from the weekend's flea market, was even going to work or blow up in my face when I plugged it in. Luckily, it just made great waffles, it didn't start any fires, and I am terribly jealous of the customer who now owns it.

I love vintage items, because I think a lot of things were just made better, especially during the post WWII era. Oh, and they were cuter too. Kitchen appliances and cookware were built to last a lifetime, instead of being easily broken and regularly replaced. You will notice that my shop is heavy on the cookware and kitchen items, which simply stems from my love of cooking. When I find something effective or beautiful that I love to use in my kitchen, I have to find more to share with fellow vintage loving cooks. I strongly endorse everything that I sell. I buy things that are high quality, that I would (or already do) use or wear myself.

I also think that it is important to find and salvage usable vintage items, because it's sustainable. Why send perfectly good older items to the landfill and why waste energy producing new junk, when the old stuff works just fine? My only issue with this is that new items give me color envy when I realize that their 1950s counterparts were only manufactured in black and white. This is why you will always find a few hand painted vintage pieces in my shop. As much as I hate to mess with original designs, some pieces are too chipped and rusted not to be refinished. As long as I'm repainting a mixer or a fan, I think it might as well be leopard print or pink.

I love to crochet, paint, sew, make jewelry, and work with wood. My favorite part is coming up with hundreds of projects that I would love to start. The hard part is narrowing that down to what is realistic!

The Lion's Den Studio is a collection of vintage and hand made pieces, collected, restored, or made by me. I do my best to add interesting and unique items to share and mostly love every minute of it. Thanks for checking out my shop!

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Paypal is the preferred method, but you can use also credit cards or contact me with any questions.

Layaway and Reservations:

The Lion's Den is happy to offer layaway. Customers may reserve an item with a 20% down payment and then pay the remaining balance within 30 days. For larger purchases the balance can be split into three monthly payments. If an item is $1,000.00 the customer can reserve it with a down payment of $200.00 and either pay the remaining $800 within 30 days or pay $266.66 per month for three months. Please send me a message if you would like to set up layaway.

Layaways are non-refundable. If the customer decides they do not want the item the down payment will become store credit.
Shipping
I usually ship orders on the next business day from when the order is received, but will ship them on the second business day, at the latest.

The shipping prices listed are generally based on shipping guidelines for USPS Parcel Post. Please let me know if you need an item by a specific deadline or just prefer expedited shipping. I am happy to accommodate these needs, whenever possible, and will look up expedited prices upon request.

Shipping is not refundable.

Please do not ask me to mark items as gifts. Customs is aware that shipping labels printed with Etsy are purchases and it is not worth risking my business license and I don't want you to get fined!

Customs charges are based on the country in which the buyer is located. I do not know what items will be charged customs fees in your country or how much they might cost. Please consider possible customs charges before making purchases, and contact your local postal service for more information.
Refunds and Exchanges
Shipping Issues: While I certainly hope for everything to go perfectly, sometimes the postal system simply refuses to cooperate. If anything goes wrong with shipping please just send me a message and we will work it out.

Refunds: I will happily send a full refund for returned items, if I have made a mistake or misrepresentation in the listing. I do not refund items returned for imperfections, color, or measurements that are photographed, listed, or described in the listing. (In the case of any exceptions, I will charge a 20% restocking fee.)

Returns: If you want to return something for any reason other than a listing error, please return the item within 14 days of receipt for exchange or store credit. Shipping is not refundable.

Items purchased with coupon codes or while on sale are final sale.

Discounted items cannot be reserved.

***Please take the time to read the listing before making a purchase.***
Please view all pictures, read descriptions, and double check measurements with a measuring tape!

Vintage Condition: Most of my items are vintage and sold in as-is condition. Even the nicest vintage items are not perfect. They do have tiny imperfections from use and I am not able to show every detail in five photographs, but I do try to describe and photograph any noticeable flaws and accurately describe the condition. Please review all photographs, descriptions, and measurements before buying and understand that my items are vintage and not brand new.

Purse/Bag Measurements: Use the measurements provided, not the item description, to determine how a bag can be worn or used. I do not know your height, style, or the size of your electronics. Something I consider "cross body" may not be long enough for your height or style preference. It is very hard to tell the size of a bag just by looking at pictures and many styles that look exactly the same come in multiple sizes. Please check the measurements, to avoid unhappy surprises!

I try to write very accurate descriptions in order to avoid returns. Please consider your purchases before buying, I want you to be happy! Customer service is important to me, I will do my best to solve any problems.
Additional policies and FAQs
Feel free to make an offer if you wish, but please understand that due to time constraints, I do not answer emails containing unreasonably low offers or the question "what is your best price?", as that is noted in the listings.

Measurements are found towards the bottom of the item description.

Shipping prices are located in the shipping tab to the upper right hand of item descriptions.
