Shop policies

Please remember to read through my policies. By completing a purchase at The Merry Bead, you are agreeing with my shop policies.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept PayPal and you may also check out directly through Etsy using a major credit/debit card, ApplePay or Google.

Custom Requests/Orders

If I have to order an item from my supplier based upon your request, there will be a deposit required PRIOR to me placing the order. This order will NOT be placed until I receive your payment. Once your special order arrives, the deposit amount will be subtracted from your balance. Payment in full is expected within 3 days of notification. This is non-negotiable. If payment is not received within 3 days or you back out of the purchase, your deposit is forfieted. This applies to special requests as well. If you make a deposit on a custom listing or request and back out of our agreement, your deposit is forefieted.

Deposit requirements:

Orders under $150 = 25% deposit required
Orders $151 to $250 = 35% deposit required
Orders $251+ = 50% deposit required

Again, please be advised that your deposit will NOT be returned if you fail to make your final payment on time or if you decide against purchase.

I apologize for this new policy, however, there has simply been too many issues with special requests. My time and money is put on the line and those who walk away loose nothing, however, I am stuck with the order, the duty of selling said order and out all the money and time. Not to mention all the times your reserved item could have sold had it not been on reserve.

By completing your purchase, you are agreeing to my terms of sale. Please read ALL policies before purchasing to avoid any conflict.
Shipping
I will ship your purchase via USPS 1st class mail and usually within 48 to 72 hours of receiving payment. All domestic orders are mailed with delivery confirmation - tracking number will be emailed to you after I create the shipping label. Orders over $250 will be posted with an additional precaution of signature confirmation. I ship Monday - Friday ONLY - shipping department is CLOSED on the weekends. If you place your order on Friday, it is highly likely that it will not be shipped until Monday.

If you require your purchase to be shipped via priority mail or with insurance, you are responsible for the additional cost. You may upgrade your shipping upon checking out. You'll find a drop down menu in the shipping section of your cart for my shop items. You may choose from several options. If you have shipping questions, please ask BEFORE you complete your purchase.

All shipping charges listed in the item description are 1st class USPS. For international customers, USPS does not offer any kind of tracking for international 1st class shipping. You are responsible for registered air mail cost if you wish to have your packages tracked. Registered mail automatically comes with insurance. You'll find a drop down menu in the shipping section of your cart for my shop items. You may choose from several options. If you have shipping questions, please ask BEFORE you complete your purchase.

Please note: for shipments to Malaysia, Jordan, Spain and Italy - Registered airmail prices are posted already as I will only ship via registered mail to those countries. You'll find a drop down menu in the shipping section of your cart for my shop items. You are required to purchase the certified mail upgrade or your order will not ship. If you have shipping questions, please ask BEFORE you complete your purchase.

International Customers:

INTERNATIONAL VAT/Import Tax: I will not accept returns or refusals because of duty/import fees. It is your responsibility to know that when you are purchasing from outside your country, there will be taxes on your item. I disclose full costs on your customs forms and you will be charged tax/VAT based on your order value. I, in no way am responsible for those fees, nor are the fees covered in any way by my shipping charges. Import tax is part of doing business outside of your country. I pay taxes and fees on the goods I import as well. It's all part of buying overseas.

Lost Parcels:

It is your choice weather to insure your order. If you decide to take the risk of not insuring your purchase, any loss or damage is your responsibility. USPS is an independent entity with thousands of employees...none of which I am responsible for...I have absolutely no control over this organization or any foreign country's mail system. It is rediculous to think that I can control or prevent an issue that may arise. I will gladly provide any service they offer if you supply the payment for those services. The shipping fees charged cover first class mail ONLY.

I issue cash refunds ONLY when your parcel is insured. No exceptions.

Shipping Damage:

If you receive your package and it is damaged, you should NOT accept delivery. The post office is responsible for damaged packages, not me. However, insurance does not cover damages after the fact...meaning that if your package is damaged and you choose to accept it...open it...that clears the post office of ALL responsibility.
Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are final. This is non-negotiable.

I do not issue refunds on any purchases if your package is lost or damaged in the mail. If you are an international customer, I strongly suggest that you invest in additional shipping coverage by registered mail which includes insurance.

IMPORTANT: Refunds on packages that have been insured will not be completed UNTIL the USPS claim is paid and not before. Please refer to www.usps.com for details on claim re-imbursement.

If we have discussed a refund prior to a sale, your payment will not be refunded until all merchandise has been returned and received. A photo of a parcel and/or tracking number is not sufficient. All merchandise must be delivered in to my hands at which point it will be inspected. If items are damaged, cut, unstrung or otherwise not in the condition they were originally shipped, I will require a 20% re-stocking fee be deducted from your refund.

By completing a purchase through my Etsy shop, The Merry Bead, you are agreeing to the terms of ALL my shop policies.
Additional policies and FAQs
I will "Reserve" items for no more than one week. After that time has lapsed, the item will be taken off reserve. This is a detash shop and not heavily stocked. My beads tend to sell quickly and I can not hold beads any longer than 7 days. If you have a question or perhaps need to negotiate more time, please feel free to convo me.

Bead Measurements:

Please understand that I measure my beads with a caliper and state said measurements in each listing. If you are unclear about the size of the beads offered, I strongly encourage you to invest in a caliper as well. You may also rely on a ruler as a size guide. Please note my refund policy before purchasing if you are still unsure of bead size.

FAQs

Q: What makes up your shipping fees?:
A: Due to USPS policy, international shipments are required to be brought to the counter at an actual post office. For some countries, additional packaging (i.e. a cardboard box, packing materials) is required. I have no problem shipping to an international customer, but it requires a time committment because paperwork must be completed, an actual trip to the post office is required (there is ALWAYS a line - I have waited over an hour at the post office - seen lines out the door even), proper shipping containers must be used and the obvious, there are different postage rates for different countries. I try to remain as reasonable as I can with my shipping prices.

For Domestic shipping, the shipping covers the envelopes, bubble wrap, printer ink, paper and tape. It's also got to cover the postage cost.

WIRE WRAPPING SUGGESTIONS:

I recommend using dead soft wire NO LARGER than 26 gauge when wire wrapping beads you purchase from my shop. If you are not an experienced wire wrapper, I also recommend that you refrain from purchasing here because I am not responsible for beads broken through wrapping attempts...as a designer myself, I have had the misfortune of breaking my share of beads and know the heartbreak it causes, especially when there is significant money loss involved. Gemstone beads are fragile and if you use hard wire, you risk breakage...this is the nature of making jewelry with gemstones that are drilled. You must understand the nature of drilled gemstones in combination with wire or you will experience broken beads...

If you have any questions regarding wrapping techniques, I am convo friendly, please feel free to ask...I have been working with fine gems for years and am happy to share my knowledge!

Also, I examine my beads (with a loupe) before listing them and provide full disclosure about inclusions and quality. Beads are also packaged appropirately...if damage occurs (broken beads) in transit, I am not responsible for damage reimbursement. You must purchase insurance! Please see my shipping policy section for further information.

Gemstone Disclaimer:

I provide a description in each listing that comes directly from my suppliers. My listings reflect the exact information I am given when I purchase these beads. If you have any questions, please convo me prior to completing your transaction.
