I recommend using dead soft wire NO LARGER than 26 gauge when wire wrapping beads you purchase from my shop. I am not responsible for beads broken through wrapping attempts...as a designer myself, I have had the misfortune of breaking my share of beads and know the heartbreak it causes, especially when there is significant money loss involved.

If you have any questions regarding wrapping techniques, I am convo friendly, please feel free to ask...I have been working with fine gems for years and am happy to share my knowledge!

I also recommend investing in a caliper...it's a tool that every jewelry designer should own. Bead Smith makes a super cheap plastic version or you can go all the way and invest in an electronic version...mine is brass...middle of the road...I spent about $6 on mine...it will help you to easily visualize bead measurements. Of course, you could always use the trusty ruler...but the caliper is better...just my opinion! It will eliminate any suprise when buying beads...

On that note...if you just don't want to mess with a caliper, here are a few handy references:

U.S. Coin references:

Penny: 19mm in diameter
Nickel: 21mm in diameter
Dime: 18mm in diameter
Quarter: 24mm in diameter

25mm = 1"
19mm = 3/4"
13mm = 1/2"
6mm = 1/4"
