An emporium or unique wax and wood gifts
The Montana Homestead Emporium is family owned, and operated in beautiful Kalispell, Montana. We are surrounded by mountains and open wilderness, and only a short drive from the spectacular Glacier National Park. Our business is named for the original homestead property we live on, and where all our products are created. Even though all the original buildings are gone, we are slowly returning the property into the working homestead it once was.
We take pride in each and every item we make for you.
We use only American grown soy wax for our candles. The candles are made in small batches and each is hand poured, one at a time, to ensure we are providing consistent quality. We offer true 100% soy candles. We do not use soy blends, and there are no additives or dye.
Our wax tarts are made with our own custom blend of pure soy and all natural beeswax. This blend allows for a stronger scent hold, and a longer lasting tart. Using these natural waxes also allows for a cleaner, truer fragrance to come through.
My love for candle making started, truly just as a hobby. I set out to teach myself to make candles for my family, to use in our home. I never thought I would fall in love with the creative outlet it had become. From our pure soy candles, soy & beeswax melting tarts, to our own handmade room and linen spray, each of our products is handmade, with love, on our small Montana Homestead.

Local customers may check "other" and pay with cash or local check when delivery is made.
Some items require additional processing time, please check your item for specific details. Most orders are mailed within 7-14 days after payment is made. But, during times of a high volume of orders, that time frame may be extended. We ALWAYS post current processing times in our store notes. Please check that for most up to date information. We always indicate if we are running longer than 7-14 days. Please understand we take orders in the ORDER they are received. If you need something rushed, please contact us PRIOR to purchase to see if we can accommodate you. We do our best to accommodate rush orders, but it is not always possible.
We do insure all orders. Insurance will only cover the cost of the order itself, not any shipping charges that you have paid. If an item is damaged, you can file a claim with the USPS and they will refund you the cost of the damaged item only. They do not reimburse you for the shipping charges. If you order multiple candles or items, they will only reimburse for the damaged item(s) not the whole order. If something arrives damaged, you must keep the item, pack materials and the box. Contact us immediately and we will discuss how you can file a claim to get paid. Please note we will no longer file claims for customers. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we take the utmost care in packing orders. We use ample packing and bubble wrap. We can not be held responsible for handling of your box after it leaves our store.
Again, insurance does not cover the cost of shipping charges, so if you order a replacement you will have to pay shipping again. This is not our policy, it is the USPS insurance policy.

Refunds and Exchanges
No refunds are excepted, so please read the item description carefully and understand these are handmade items. No two items are ever the same. Items are hand dyed. This means there may be slight variation in color shown as to what is received. This also lends to the uniqueness of each item we sell. Tarts may show signs of irregularities in shape if there is a sudden change in temperature during shipping. This in no way affects the quality of the product.
Handmade soy candles can also have "frosting" on them. This is a natural occurrence with the wax, and in no way affects the candle itself.
For large orders we do require half upfront, and balance is due prior to shipping your order. Once you have paid for your deposit, the order cannot be cancelled, and we cannot refund your deposit. No order will be shipped until balance has been paid.
We take the utmost care in packaging our products. Each candle is individually wrapped with bubble wrap for safety. We add ample filler so there are no loose items that can bang against each other. All our items include the cost of insurance with the shipping price listed.
If you are purchasing our items to resell, we are not responsible for damage to the item after it is in your store. Candles will discolor if in the sunlight or lights for too long. Also, flowers can be broken by constantly being handled by customers, and we can not replace them. We strongly suggest you purchase a tart or votive to use as a sample tester, if it is not included in your wholesale pack.
Additional policies and FAQs
We use old barn wood or wood from a small local mill for all our wood signs. This wood has natural imperfections. There are cracks, knots, worm holes, and most boards do have a natural "bow" in them. They are rustic signs.
All these characteristics lend to their rustic one of a kind look and feel. They are not "perfect" pieces of wood. Our aging process can vary from board to board. most photos of our signs are "stock". You sign will vary from the pictures shown.
We do accept custom orders. Please feel free to contact us with your needs. If you do not see one of our scents listed, contact us and we can get it listed for you. We can also work with you if you are looking for something specific that we do not normally carry.
We are happy to do custom sign orders, but we will no longer do signs based on a picture of another sign.
Every sign made, is protected by copyrights. If someone else has already made it, we will NOT copy it. We will not risk our business or reputation for it, so please do not ask us to.
Also, we WILL NOT do custom signs of sports teams, business logos, etc. Their logo is copyrighted! There are huge fines we can be subject to for copying/selling items with these logos. It is not worth the risk to our business to do this for a customer. So please do not ask. Yes, there are stores that will do this for you, but we will not.
