The village and mushrooms are both so exquisite! So unique and I marvel at the skill of making ceramics so tiny. I truly adore them!

Unfortunately this customer didn't notice that thier order was listed as "made to order" rather than a ready made item. The order was completed within the allotted time, but prior to shipment the order was canceled and a full refund issued. This is the first time I've experienced this type of misunderstanding.

Unfortunately this customer did not read the item description prior to purchasing and so expected immediate shipment of two items listed as made to order. The turn around time for sculpting, bisque firing, glazing, and a final firing was four weeks. Just before that time the misunderstanding came to light and ended in a cancellation of the order and full refund. The customer was unaware that made to order items are sold on etsy.

About

The Leake family homestead

Stephen and Christina live on a nine acre homestead in Virginia with their two year old son, Fisher. During the warm months they can be found milking goats, wrangling free range chickens, or tending the garden. Of an evening you'll find Stephen reading aloud or sketching as his wife mends, sews, or sculpts. Come the winter they spend time nursing a fire and working away at hand crafts to sell throughout the year to support their family.

The couple has always been drawn to creative pursuits, both having varied interests. Christina loves old world hand craft as well as traditional fine arts, but has recently focused on pottery and hand sewing. A jack of all trades with a love for the imperfection inherent in hand made goods. Stephen's latest plan is to carve bows from an old mulberry tree on the property, fashioning the bowstrings from wild yucca and fledging his arrows with turkey feathers.

Back in 2007, Christina opened up shop selling the first terrariums on Etsy. Wanting to complete the verdant scenes she began sculpting miniature ceramic houses. Eventually the "Shelf City" was born and she found herself selling the tiny homes, churches, and factories up and down the east coast at shows.

Things slowed down with the arrival of their son, raising him being a full time job. But come the winter of 2014 they'll be opening up shop again. This time selling whatever is made that day. You can expect to see old standbys like the Shelf cities mentioned above, as well as handsewn clothes, pottery, quilts, paintings, jewelry, basketry, inkle loom weaving, wood carvings and much more.
