5 out of 5 starsThe button on the bottom was broken, but it still works, just requires a little creativity.

5 out of 5 starsI bought a slip like this at an antique store, years ago. It has been invaluable, espcially during winter. Because of it's warmth, it enables me to wear lightweight summer dresses with my boots during winter. Helps make my clothes a lot more versatile. I was so happy to have found this slip on Etsy. It fits perfectly and is the same quality as my other slip. :)

The Old Pitts Homestead near Alexandria, South Dakota. 1950s
The Old Pitts Homestead was started in 1882...
...when my great-great grandfather Michael came to America from Luxembourg. He and his wife Maggie, along with their three sons, farmed the land near Alexandria, South Dakota. Eventually, the three sons grew up: Orrie and John started the Pitts Bros. General Merchandise in 1909 and my great-grandfather, Charles, took over the farm.
Our family resided in the homestead through the influenza epidemic, two world wars, many presidents, and offered shelter to cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and relatives from all over the world, until the recent passing of my great uncle, Dwight. Many family members have lived, loved, and gone beyond the walls of the Pitts Family Homestead, but the celebration of their lives remain in the beautiful collectibles they left behind.
Fine china from around the world, tell the tales of my ancestors' various journeys. Antique and vintage wares, some never used or opened, tell the story of The Pitts Bros. General Merchandise, which was in operation until 1960. Souvenirs from World's Fairs, National Parks and tourist destinations recall vacations long past. Japanese pottery and war memorabilia tell the story of my great uncles, who fought in multiple wars. Vintage advertising and farming products recall the life of a rural farming homestead that my family operated for over 100 years. Handmade clothing, notions and tools illustrate the skills required to live off the land in a remote and sometimes harsh area. And of course, porcelain shoe and salt & pepper collections show an admiration for whimsey and beauty.
Each treasure tells the tale of those who loved it. Now these treasures need your love, your stories. Come on in to The Old Pitts Homestead and find a new, old treasure of your own!
