A creative outlet for an at-home mom.

My shop is only possible because of the unique marketplace Etsy offers. Since I joined Etsy in 2008, I have had three little girls and a baby boy. Though I will never regret making them my undisputed top-priority, motherhood isn't without it's frustrations for my artistic drive. The pieces I now offer represent just a sliver of the ideas I have, and I can't seem to produce faster than at a snail's pace. I have very often thought it may be best to just close my shop until I have more time to devote to it. What keeps me from doing so is the positive response I feel from happy customers. I have found among them astonishing kindness, common views, uplifting encouragement, and inspiration, and it keeps me from wanting to give it up. Due to popular demand, a good portion of the prints I sell are custom color pieces. I have received an amazing response from customers who are delighted to purchase art that exactly matches their decor or that looks just like them and their children.

All the work in my shop features artwork that I created myself. My process begins with an idea (sometimes stemming from the requests of customers). I sketch by hand on paper, then scan my sketches and finish them out in Adobe Illustrator. I email the final artwork to my printing vendor, who create the printed pieces and ship them back to me. I scrutinize the final works and personally package them for shipping. Other than actually printing, I manage everything else about my shop.

Though I live in Spokane, Washington (USA), I have my prints made out-of-town by a wonderful giclee studio, Bellevue Fine Art ( just outside of Seattle. By working with a true fine art vendor, I can assure customers they are purchasing a real piece of art--not just an inkjet printout. My printers use only the best fine art giclee papers, canvas and inks (all archival quality, with a rating of 75 years). All canvas prints are UV coated for additional protection, setting them apart from discount printers and mega retailers like Costco and Walgreens that cannot certify the longevity or quality of their products. The difference anyone can immediately see is in the amazing color that giclee printing makes possible. I especially love to utilize the tones that are just not possible to create with inkjet and laser printers.

I launched The Paper Nut in 2008 with only a set of 4 letterpress greeting cards (featuring my original artwork printed by Tryst Press in Provo, Utah). I soon transitioned into making giclee art prints of my designs.

Orders will not ship until payment clears. If you do not pay for a private listing in time for the custom orders deadline (per the schedule in my shop announcements) then it will not be included in that batch.
If you decide to cancel an order or change items, I am happy to refund any overrages or set up a listing to cover additional costs.
I will not refund shipping costs if you enter incorrect shipping information and the item has to be reshipped.
It is very important that you be aware of the projected shipping date of custom prints. I go through great effort to make my production schedule clear. Read listing information thoroughly and observe ship-by dates. Allow ample time for production and be aware that ship-by dates can be subject to slight change as I don't have control over the turnaround time of my printing vendor.

Please make sure that the address you enter at checkout is correct. Labels are generated automatically and your address will appear exactly as you enter it. I will not accept responsibility for incorrect shipping information. Tracking information is included for orders in the U.S. (international orders are tracked until they leave the U.S.) I will only ship orders through USPS (except canvases and very large format prints ship UPS directly from my printers). I will not send prints as "letter mail" to international addresses.

I do not have any more contact or control of the Postal Service than the average person. Whatever information you can gather from the tracking information is all I have access to as well.

PACKAGING: 8X10" and smaller prints lay flat in a rigid mailer, while larger prints will be rolled in a very sturdy mailing tube with plastic end caps. If you prefer your 8X10" to be rolled in a tube, I can do that at your request.

EXPIDITING: Priority shipping is automatic for orders weighing more than 13 oz. To expedite a smaller package (U.S. only) to Priority, follow this link:

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: I am happy to ship prints worldwide (however, I can no longer ship canvases internationally). Do be aware that orders overseas can take a considerable amount of time (up to a month). During the holiday season the mail slows down considerably. I have no control over how speedy the process is once the package leave my hands. Tracking information only shows where the package is during it's stops in the U.S.
Refunds and Exchanges
I accept returns on any original-condition items. In such cases I will refund the cost of the print; shipping costs will not be refunded unless the item was damaged in the mail, flawed, or incorrect. I will reship U.S. orders that have been lost by the postal service (this has, to date, never happened). For PDF's, I will offer a full refund on the trust that you will simply discard the file on your end.

I manage my shop Monday-Friday, so please be aware that if you send me a message on the weekend you may not get a response until Monday.

Gifts: If your order is going directly to a gift recipient, just let me know and I will exclude your receipt or include a gift receipt. I will also include special messages, tags, ribbon, or giftwrap (when possible) free of charge upon request.

Copyright: All the artwork in my shop is MY ORIGINAL WORK. Please be considerate and do not copy any imagery (however easy it is to recreate) for personal or commercial use. Copyright infringements have been, and will be pursued legally. PLEASE PLEASE give credit to my shop when sharing my work on blogs, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. But do share away! :) I very much appreciate the publicity!

WHOLESALE: I do have discounted pricing available for wholesale purchase (you must have a licensed business and meet a minimum order requirement to take advantage). Please be aware that, as is the case with many small-scale independent sellers, it is not possible for me to compete with the wholesale pricing of very large companies.
