Non avevo idea di come la mia piccola attività, The Paper Shutter, sarebbe cresciuta. In questi ultimi 7 anni ho ampliato il mio inventario, il mio marchio e la mia esperienza. Ho imparato tantissimo e sono grata a Dio, alla mia famiglia e agli amici che mi hanno supportato e aiutato ad avviare la mia attività. Ma come ho iniziato?
Quando avevo 7 o 8 anni, mia madre e mia nonna mi hanno insegnato a cucire e adoravo creare piccole cose per me stessa. Crescendo, ho capito che mi piaceva disegnare e realizzare borse e astucci con cerniera. Ogni tanto realizzavo qualche cosa per gli amici, ma la maggior parte di ciò che facevo era per me stessa. Poi ho pensato di trasformare il mio hobby in un'attività. La mia famiglia mi ha supportato mentre imparavo tutto su come vendere nei mercatini di persona e online. E da lì è cresciuto lentamente. Mi dà grande soddisfazione creare prodotti che non siano solo utili, ma anche belli e divertenti.
Da dove deriva il nome The Paper Shutter?
Beh, inizialmente pensavo di aprire un'attività di fotografia e dedicarmi all'hand lettering. Quindi "Paper" per l'hand lettering e "Shutter" per la macchina fotografica. Poi ho deciso di vendere gli articoli che cucio e ho mantenuto lo stesso nome dell'attività. Amo ancora l'hand lettering e la fotografia, e adoro poter mettere a frutto queste mie doti nella mia attività di cucito.
Hello! My name is Meg. I love cute fabrics, organizing, and sewing. When I was 16 years old, I decided I wanted to start my own business and open an Etsy shop to sell my handsewn items. I had no idea how my little business, The Paper Shutter, would grow. Over these last 7 years I have built up my inventory, my brand, and my experience. I have learned so much and am grateful to God, my family, and supportive friends who have helped me start my business. But how did I get started?
When I was 7 or 8 years old, my mom and grandmother taught me how to sew, and I loved making little things for myself. As I got older, I realized I loved to design and make myself purses and zipper pouches. I made a few things for friends here and there, but most of what I made was for myself. Then I thought about turning my hobby into a business. My family supported me as I learned all about selling at in-person markets and online. And it's slowly grown from there. It gives me great satisfaction to provide products that are not only useful, but also beautiful and fun.
Where did the name The Paper Shutter come from?
Well, originally I was going to have a photography business and do some hand lettering. So "Paper" for hand lettering and "Shutter" for camera. Then I decided to sell the items that I sew, and kept the same business name. I still love hand lettering and photography, and I love that I can use those talents in my sewing business.
