Born and raised in the Midwest then transplanted to the East, crafting all the way!
I was never formally taught how to sew. My mother spent much of my early childhood making chutney, crafting for bazaars and making my sisters, brother and I clothes and blankets. My siblings and I were often enlisted in helping prepare materials and assemble final products for bazaars. I have lots of good memories helping out in my mom's craft room which we referred to as "The Chutney Kitchen".
I always seemed to be trying to create something; magazine clipping collages, doodle pictures, necklaces, bracelets, any medium I could get my hands on to make something. Once I moved to the East coast, I started getting together more with crafty friends, reading on-line how-to-tutorials and taking endeavors to complete said tutorials.
After graduating from nursing school, my crafting life really started to pick up. I still have busy periods when crafting eludes me, but I am finding the pockets of time I need. My Etsy shop is my main outlet where you will find my creations. However, I have also sold items in physical store fronts including a hair salon and a children's clothing and accessory boutique.
The creations you see in ThePensiveOwl are all hand made by me. I am fairly picky when choosing items to sell or gift. I really want the receiving person to enjoy whatever it is that they have chosen to bring into their lives. When I make something, I make it with the intent that it will have a long life when treated well. These sentiments go into every item that I create.
