About

A Creatrix is Born

In 1993 I started hand painting paper mache boxes with acrylic paints. Being a new mother I was challenged between being an attentive caregiver to my son as well as being attentive to the creative energies brewing within me. I found the right materials and created what I had then named "Odd Boxes". I went on to make probably about 300 of those, each one unique. My supply dwindled as stores went out of business or were out of the materials I used, and with no internet at that time, it was close to impossible to obtain the boxes.

In later years, I became fascinated with painting wooden items and did a few boxes but I truly loved creating one of a kind Carousel Horses, that came with all their pieces, but then they too became difficult to find so I took them and made patterns and had them cut for me by someone with the right tools. Eventually I was given a scroll saw and did them myself. They were an enormous amount of work, so I eventually had to resign those as well.

I was a smoker for seventeen years, and I knew that I was not as brightly led as I needed to be, so I decided I would pick up my quill and start drawing and writing in inks because I had the feeling that my creativity could lead me away from my addiction. I was right. I was eventually able to quit my day job as I became a popular seller on eBay.

Again, things I was painting were put aside because being an attentive parent, as well as the author of "Whispers of the Goddess" self published in 2009 took most of my time.

By the end of 2014 I was itching for something unique to use for myself and to give as holiday gifts for the special people in my life. This is where I came to the exciting discovery of my Gratitude Jars. I have made several of these and the response is so awesome that I decided to create more in the same tradition of uniqueness that I have always admired.
