Hi there! My name is Mandy and I am the owner of a home-based, small business called the The Pillow People. I specialize in decorative throw pillow covers for your home and event decorating needs.

Before sewing pillow covers, I started creating and selling online many years ago when I taught myself to knit and designed and created knitted soakers, longies, and beanies for babies. It was great fun, but I desperately wanted to learn how to sew and create amazing clothing for young my daughter, so I bought a sewing machine and taught myself everything from the basics to advanced. This is where my love of fabric began and knew I'd always create amazing, functional, and fashionable items from fabric.

I soon opened a children's clothing boutique right here on Etsy and did very well. However, my drive to create and learn new techniques led me into designing handbags, diaper bags, and electronics accessories. During this time, I was redecorating my home and fell in love with big puffy pillows and gorgeous pillow covers. That sprouted the idea for The Pillow People. I now carry over 300 home decorator fabrics from name brands such as Premier Prints, Waverly, Richloom, Magnolia Home Fashions and more, sewing and packaging each and every pillow cover myself.

I have had a fantastic time building this business along with my husband, James, who now helps on occasion with various business tasks when I need him. We have had a great first two years for our shop, with our pillow covers being featured on incredible websites such as apartmenttherapy.com, and most recently featured in Pregnancy & Newborn magazine, September 2012 issue.

I'm looking forward to a fantastic future and am very thankful to all of my past, current, and prospective customers for helping me and my family live our dream. =)
