Handmade, Modern Baby Quilts for Sale!
Hello Everyone! I'm Chris, and I'm The Quirky Quilter.
Each item in my shop is made to order. That means that you and I work together to design the quilt and pick out the fabrics. The personalized quilt you receive will be the only one of it's kind in the entire world! Wouldn't that just be the best gift you could ever give a new mommy?! And knowing that it will last forever is just an added bonus!
The beautiful, detailed quilting on each of my quilts is what makes these pieces stand out from the crowd. I meticulously quilt each item with special attention to detail so that you get a one-of-kind, exceptional baby quilt that can be treasured forever.
A quilt is made up of three layers; the top layer, a batting layer (the "stuffing") and a backing layer. "Quilting" refers to the stitches that keep the layers of the quilt together. It is the artistry of the quilting that make my quilts special and absolutely beautiful.
I make each quilt myself. I use my regular sewing machine to put the top of the quilt together and then use my quilting machine to put the three layers together.

5 out of 5 starsThese nestling baskets are adorable! And, they smell so nice!! I love them!!! They are made of a very sturdy printed cloth, and came with a personal note, which I appreciate very much! I bought these as a gift, but now want them for myself (smile). I guess I will have to buy another (smile). I really like this store, and look forward to purchasing many more items. ;-)

5 out of 5 starsNice, generously sized fabric baskets. I like the fabric and that they are constructed strongly to stand on their own. I also appreciate the squared bottom that is nearly as wide as the top instead of the tapered baskets with a narrow bottom. The handles make a nice addition. Chris is great! Very pleasant and quick to respond to messages. Fast shipping. I really enjoy this shop!

Communication was amazing, and the quilt was delivered faster than expected. I would recommend The Quirky Quilter without hesitation to anyone looking for a custom quilt!

Handmade, Modern Baby Quilts for Sale!
Hello, I'm Chris, and I'm a quiltaholic. There, I said it. Isn't admitting you have a problem the first step to recovery? This addiction has cost me dearly in several areas of my life. For one thing, I've lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars on luscious, happy, cheery fabric. But that's not all. I've even lost several rooms in my house to my addiction. It started with the basement, but my addiction has now caused me to take over other rooms of the house. I have tons of books and two, no wait, three sewing machines and I HAD to have space to store them, didn't I?
I don't even want to talk about the TIME I have devoted to my addiction! Thank goodness I did not discover crack, uh, I mean quilting, until my sons were grown and out of the house!
But that leads to the worst part of my addiction. The quilts. I just can't stop making them. I've tried. I've had family members tell me that if I made one more quilt for them, they would take my sewing machine away. I've had books and pins and needles just mysteriously disappear. All in a futile attempt to stop me from going deeper and deeper into my addiction.
But nothing can stop this craving....this urge to create...this is what I need to do. So, I keep right on doing it.......and because my family has banned me from making anything for them....I'll make things for you!
When I tell people that just a few years ago, I would staple the hem in my pants because I didn't know how to thread a needle, they chuckle. My sewing friends downright laugh when I tell them how many hours I spent watching youtube videos trying to understand just what in the heck a scant quarter inch seam was (It's WAY over-rated is what it is)! And when I talk about the day I almost cried because I could not figure out how to get the thread from the spool to the sewing machine.....well, let's just say I've been mocked!
Not anymore! My persistence paid off! Although, some may say......my persistence can also be called "addiction." Be that as it may.....I'm addicted to quilting and all things quilty. I eat, sleep and breathe quilts.
If a quilt I make can give someone even half the pleasure using it as I got making it.....then I've done good and all is well with my world....no intervention needed.
Now, seriously folks, here's the real reason to buy a quilt from me. The quilts for sale in my shop are made totally by me. I sew all of the pieces together on my Janome sewing machine. Then I sew the top (the pieced part I just put together), the middle (called batting, or stuffing), and backing fabric together. The act of stitching the top, middle and backing together is actually what is called "quilting." The quilting, in my opinion, is where the art, the uniqueness and the fun comes in!
Anyone can put the three pieces together and call it a quilt. My quilts are distinctive because I quilt the three pieces together in a unique, free form, artistic way. Rather than use a computer to stitch each design perfectly, I meticulously draw each stitch with thread in a free hand method. No set patterns, no computer assistance. You will never find two of my quilts exactly alike.
Further, my quilts will last a lifetime because they are stitched densely enough to keep them together forever; wash after wash after wash.
When I am in front of my quilting machine, it is my goal to turn an ordinary quilt into a treasured piece of art that I create as I go along.
I promise you will get a truly unique, and extraordinary piece of art for your little one when you buy a quilt from me. I also promise that you will get a quilt that has already been loved by me and can now be loved by you and the precious baby that uses it!
If you are still reading this, we are practically best friends already. So what are you waiting for? Email me and lets get this party started!!!

Frequently asked questions
How do I buy a customized quilt from you?
Just send me an email telling me that you are interested in getting a quilt made and we will go from there!
Will the custom quilt I get look just like the one in the picture?
Nope! It will be unique. It will be made just for you with the options and colors that you and I discuss in our emails. No two of my quilts are the same.
Can I use my own design?
That's a maybe. It all depends on the difficulty level of your design. Some designs are easier to translate into a quilt than others. Email me and we'll figure it out!
How long will it take for you to make the quilt?
The actual "making of the quilt" doesn't really take me all that long...maybe a week or so. BUT, if I have other customer orders in line ahead of yours, you may have to wait up to 5 weeks to get yours.
