About FunnyGirlSoapCo

On Etsy since 2013

Hey! How are ya!?

It feels weird writing this again. There have been so many changes in my life. I'm sure if you follow me already, you know that in my past life, I was an indie dyer. An indie dyer who was able to make her tiny business a primary source of income which was one of my proudest accomplishments. (Of course, my 2 children are the greatest accomplishments EVER.) You would also know that I started out as a bored and lonely SAHM looking for her own source of modest pocket change so that I wouldn't have to rely on my husband for everything under the sun. Some bit of financial independence basically.

After teaching myself a multitude of crafts including crocheting, soap & jewelry making, I felt confident enough to open my very own Etsy shop back in 2013 when my children were seriously just babes. The Rainy Apple Shoppe was born. My first little Esty Love Child. This shop was kind of like a smorgasbord for everything. I sold soaps, jewelry, hand-painted bird houses, organic baked dog treats, and custom Amigurumi, which was how I ended up as an indie dyer eventually.

Having a background in the arts (MASSART). I was always into creating. I have a love for the abstract. I can appreciate the odd and unique. I've always been drawn to the other side of the coin. So when I started selling my crocheted work, I was somewhat dulled by the offerings that the box stores were showcasing. I was like Really?? That's it?! My curiosity led me to the world of indie-dyed yarn, and LYS(local yarn shops). I quickly picked up this craft and the freedom it gave me to express myself. I had a blast and I got to know so many wonderful people because of it but I feel it is my time to move on to other avenues of art. I'm an Aries- we get bored. lol

So here I am. Reinventing my love child once again. Funny Girl Soap Co. Obviously the name tells it all. Yeah, it's soap and stuff-but with my spin on things. I hope you love it. I hope I see some familiar faces that have been customers and friends for almost 10 years, come back and continue to remain a positive force for me and my shop. I also can't wait to see new faces and gain a new customer base as well!

Here's to another chapter in life!
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

With Love, Gina- Funny Girl Soap Co.
