A little red cabin stood on the side of a beautiful, sand-bottom lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A few steps out the old screen door, and one was ankle deep in the clear, cool water. The cabin was shaded from the late afternoon sun by two, century-old white pines, one on either side.

This was a place where friends and family gathered during beautiful Michigan summers, and memories were made. It was a place without modern conveniences, but it didn't matter. Here one came to escape the busyness of city life... and summer heat. A place where laughter (and mosquitoes) were plentiful. A place of singing, and campfires, and sand between the toes, and love, and growing up, and sunsets, and fish dinners.

Here, a young boy spent all day fishing... with his dog, whose ears blew in the wind as boy and dog skimmed across the lake in the small aluminum boat. And his mom worried.... but only just a little. And she let him enjoy this time, because she knew it was fleeting. A young girl splashed and giggled with friends in the water and the sun, and climbed sand dunes, and read books.

The little red cabin is gone now, and a larger, much more "practical" log home stands in its place. Here, families still gather, and laughter, and love, and sand, and mosquitoes, and fish dinners, and campfires are plentiful. And new memories are made.

And here... in the midst of God's creation and good memories, I am inspired to create. This is where I draw my designs and make special things... just for you.
