About

Sewing for the love of it...

I am a [mostly] stay at home mom. My day job is as a bookkeeper. My family consists of myself, my husband and our 2 young children - a son and a daughter. We make our home in a little border town in Northern Maine.

We're pretty big into DIY: raising laying hens, growing a big garden and preserving all of that garden goodness, diy home repairs and improvements, etc. My husband does some wood work, home brewing and is working on a small orchard with a variety of fruit trees. I enjoy cooking, baking, crafting and throwing parties. Our kids both love helping and learning the ropes of all of it.

My biggest love in the crafting world is sewing. I love fabric. All of it. I love taking a piece of fabric, pinning, stitching and ending with something lovely. I also love that I can sit down and have a completed project when I'm finished - unlike my very unsuccessful foray into the knitting world!

As a child, my own mother did a lot of sewing in our home. She made clothing for my brother and me. I always tease her that I'd probably have loved the clothes much more if they hadn't been so itchy as wool blends were her fabric of choice in the winter months. She taught me how to use her sewing machine. Coupled with lessons in home economics classes, I was off.

My college graduation gift from my parents was my own sewing machine. It sat unused in a closet while I ventured out into the working world, taking the occasional visit out to make a curtain or throw pillow every now and then. Once my oldest was born, I found it was staying out more and more often as I started making small items for her. When my youngest was born, the sewing machine had found an official home in my "home office" - a desk and shelves I had set up in a large closet giving me the ability to work part time from home.

Now, not a day goes by that my fingers don't touch fabric or my sewing machine. I now have a room dedicated to sewing where you'll find me spending much of my day. I make clothing for my kids - using wool/flannel blends to prevent the itchies of the winters of my youth - blankets, items for our home, gifts... and the list goes on. It's a passion that has slowly fueled over the years and grown into the steady burn you see now.

If you want to stay current with my products with some crazy family (and chicken) antics and random recipes thrown in to boot, follow my business on facebook:
