Soy Meghan.
Soy el bebedor de café, Jesús alabando, adicto a las letras detrás de The Scriptive Company. Comencé mi pequeño negocio en 2015, cuando estaba pasando por una temporada desgarradora en mi vida después de que mi esposo y yo abortamos 2 embarazos. Me di cuenta de que necesitaba absolutamente alentar las Escrituras para pasar el día. Honestamente puedo decir que en esas semanas después de pasar por el momento más difícil de mi vida, no sabía cuál era mi propósito, y definitivamente no sabía lo que quería hacer como carrera.
En 2015, comencé a escribir como una forma de lidiar con mi tristeza, y encontré mucho aliento a través de los guiones de las Escrituras. Más tarde llamé a mi negocio, The Scriptive Company, porque pensé que describía mi trabajo de la mejor manera que sabía. "Scripting" todas las "Escrituras", inventé la palabra Scriptive y simplemente se quedó. Los primeros meses de mi negocio comencé a vender a los lugareños en Charlotte, Carolina del Norte y encontré una gran necesidad de mis obras de arte de letras. Más tarde, descubrí que vender más allá de mi área local haría crecer mi negocio. En 2016, abrí mi etsy Shop, tuve la oportunidad de poner mi obra de arte en una galería de arte en Asheville, Carolina del Norte, y tuve mis primeras tiendas pop-up exitosas.
El arte siempre ha estado en mi vida. He estado creando desde que pude sostener un crayón, pero en realidad poder convertirlo en una carrera ha sido un sueño. Me he visto crecer en muchas áreas, y realmente me he visto convertirme en una "mujer de negocios". Siempre digo que no soy la típica mujer de negocios, ya que mi espacio de trabajo siempre es un desastre, mi lista de tareas siempre está garabateada y mis "correos electrónicos de negocios" se parecen más a los mensajes de texto a un mejor amigo.
Sin embargo, no cambiaría nada de eso. Trabajo mejor en un escritorio desordenado con bolígrafos esparcidos por toda la música de fondo, y mi perro y yo bailando por la casa. Encuentro inspiración a través de muchas cosas. Me encanta tener flores frescas y suculentas en mi casa, y siempre me encanta ver los colores, especialmente cuando estoy pintando acuarela. Me encanta trabajar en mi escritorio en mi sala de estar. Mi esposo y yo decidimos trasladar mi espacio a la habitación más grande de nuestra casa, para que pudiera sentirme inspirada por toda la luz que entra por las ventanas. Mi goldendoodle, Bentley, también conocido como mi asistente de estudio de arte siempre me está viendo hacer mi trabajo, creo que es el verdadero "BOSS" de The Scriptive Company.
Cuando la gente me pregunta cómo comenzar su propio negocio de letras, simplemente digo esto: "Practica, aprende tu habilidad, encuentra tu estilo, HAZLO, sé creativo, sigue intentándolo, solo COMIENZA, no busques la perfección en lugar de buscar el progreso".
Si hubiera esperado para comenzar mi negocio hasta que hubiera dominado la caligrafía y aprendido todas las habilidades que necesitaba para los negocios en general, nunca habría comenzado, y hasta el día de hoy todavía no tendría un negocio.
Solo tienes que decir SÍ, y EMPEZAR.

I'm Meghan.
I'm the Coffee Sipping, Jesus Praising, Lettering Addict behind The Scriptive Company. I started my small business back in 2015, when I was going through a heart breaking season in my life after my husband and I miscarried 2 pregnancies. I realized I absolutely needed encouraging scripture to get me through the day. I can honestly say in those weeks after going through the hardest time in my life, I didn't know what my purpose was, and I definitely didn't know what I wanted to do as a career.
In 2015, I started lettering as a way to cope with my sadness, and I found so much encouragement through scripting scripture. I later named my business, The Scriptive Company, because I thought it described my work the best way I knew how. "Scripting" all the "Scriptures" , I made up the word Scriptive and it just stuck. The first couple months of my business I began selling to locals in Charlotte, NC and found a great need for my lettering artwork. Later, I found that selling beyond my local area would grow my business. In 2016, I opened my Etsy Shop, had the opportunity to put my artwork in an art gallery in Asheville, NC, and had my first successful Pop-up Shops.
Art has always been in my life. I have been creating since I could hold a crayon, but actually being able to make it a career has been a dream. I have seen myself grow in so many areas, and truly I've seen myself turn into a "business woman". I always say I'm not your typical business woman, since my work space is always a mess, my to do list is always doodled on, and my "business emails" look more like texts to a best friend.
However, I wouldn't change any of it. I work best on a messy desk with pens scattered everyone music blaring in the background , and my dog and I dancing around the house. I find inspiration through a lot of things. I love having fresh flowers and succulents in my home, and I always love seeing the colors, especially when I'm watercolor painting. I love working on my desk in my living room. My husband and I decided to move my space into the largest room in our house, so that I could feel inspired by all the light that comes through the windows. My goldendoodle, Bentley, aka my art studio assistant is always watching me do my work, I think he's the real "BOSS" of The Scriptive Company.
When people ask me how to get their own lettering business started, I simply say this: "Practice, learn your skill, find your style, DO YOU, be creative, keep trying, just START, don't look for perfection instead look for progress."
If I had waited to start my business until I had mastered calligraphy, and learned every skill I needed for business in general, I would never have started, and to this day I still wouldn't have a business.
You just have to say YES, and START.
