About

textiles artist who could do nothing but create

I can't remember ever having a scarf that was not handmade. Our family is a do-it-yourself kind of people. Everything from costumes, game boards, doll houses, books, scarves, and prom dresses were made by hand. I first learned to crochet from our grandmother when we were very young, continuing the line of handmade. In fact, it was while I was wearing a green hooded scarf made by grandma that I felt closest with the art of creation.
While visiting the great Redwoods of Northern California, hiking in the Muir Woods Forest. The air was so cool and so sweet I couldn't breathe enough. I was overwhelmed with the need to live and to create. Standing in awe of the Redwoods, I finally knew that it was my nature to create. My inspiration comes from clean mountain air and sheep-spotted pastures.
I recently graduated from Kansas University with two BFAs, in Textile and Fiber Arts and in Art History. I hope to make my passion for fiber a career and lifestyle.
In the meantime, thanks for supporting the handmade student!

Emily has been interested in textiles and making things by hand since childhood. She is inspired by the little mistakes and inconsistencies in handmade things, as they created a story and a connection between artist and object and user.

Crocheted goods can be hand washed. To avoid felting, use cool or lukewarm water and do not agitate or wring. Lay flat to air dry.

Pet Disclaimer

My home does include one fluffy kitten. I try to keep products away from cat hair but she is rather curious. If you have concerns about allergies, please contact me and I'll be happy to help.
