The Journey Begins:
I'm Randy Lear, drawn to prop design by a lifelong fascination with myths, legends, and anything fantasy. Inspired by tales of heroes and mythical creatures, RPG games, and classic films, I embarked on a journey to create handmade relics and oddities that breathe life into these fantastical worlds. For over 30 years, I have built many objects that were either my own design, or requested from individuals with certain details in mind. Sometimes I build from scratch, other times I hunt down the right antique or raw material to achieve the desired look that I need. With experience in a variety of techniques and materials, I have broadened my wisdom as an artist.
Through prop design, I bridge reality and fantasy, inviting others to journey alongside me into worlds where dragons soar and magic thrives. Starting an online platform has connected me with fellow enthusiasts who share my passion for storytelling through art. My favorite designs are those that have a certain function, whether it's for cosplay, decor, or something to get the conversation started when socializing! I have enjoyed creating everything from spellbooks, potion bottles and wizard staffs, to swords, thomahawks, and shields. I love hearing from clients about what details need to be included! Such feedback prompts me to exceed their expectations.
Looking ahead, I see endless possibilities: collaborations with customers, new myths to explore, and further innovations in prop design. My workshop remains a sanctuary where myths come alive, and where my journey as a storyteller through art continues to unfold.
