Announcement    Welcome to The Silk Thread Shop! Home of Hand Dyed and Ecoprinted Artisanal Clothing and Accessories.
The Silk Thread is the label and studio name of artist and designer, M Theresa Brown. I am a long time professional portrait artist whose career embraces many areas of the Arts. Years of printmaking and color work led me to explore the fiber arts. Using similar skills and accumulated knowledge, I have evolved as a hand painter, dyer and ecoprinter on natural fibers and leather. I use both low impact synthetic and natural dyes and merge them into unique, sophisticated designs on silk and wool. I transform my fabric into artisanal clothing, accessories and art. Everything is made by hand in me in my rural studio outside Franklinton, North Carolina. Sustainable, Eco-friendly and Biodegradable Clothing. All pieces are Ready Made OR Made-to -Order!

About TheSilkThreadShop

Sales 310
On Etsy since 2012

Do what you love!

I have two art studios. One for painting and one for my fiber art. The hand painting and printing that I do on silk, linen and fibers is a natural extension of my many years of portrait painting and printmaking!
Join me as I collect plants, leaves and flowers from my farm and the woods. Sit with me on my studio deck while I paint on stretched silk. It's what I love and the end results are a beautiful reflection of my whole environment and creativity.
Let's go see!
