About

The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things...

In 2012 I decided to leave my work in retail and visual merchandising to set up The Silver Shed. I had studied jewellery design some years before and missed working with silver.
I finally set up my studio in the garden where I design and make what I hope people see as wearable works of art. The day is spent fulfilling orders with many cups of tea.

I have always felt the need to create things, to make and let my imagination run wild. As a child I would get swept up in swashbuckling stories and fanciful fairytales. These stories have stayed with me and text from them often features in my designs, along with folklore sayings and Arts & Crafts influenced imagery.
My studio is filled with books and frippery that inspires me. Images by illustrators and artists like Arthur Rackham, Alfred Wallis and the Arts & Crafts bunch cover the walls. These images and objects are the starting point for each piece that I make. I develop my ideas then make them by hand using mostly traditional techniques. I love that the processes I use to forge, form and cast precious metals have been used for centuries, this link to history is something I find so exciting.

This is just a little snapshot of the many things that influence me and how I work, I hope it gives you an insight to how my pieces come to life before you hopefully wish to wear them.
The alchemy of working with silver and gold never fails to fascinate me, it is so magical how a piece of blackened and beaten wire can be formed, cleaned and polished to be a precious item of jewellery, something that can mean so much to its wearer.

I am a silver jeweller living in the beautiful City of Bath. My jewellery is whimsical, often using folklore & fairytales as inspiration. I work using traditional silversmithing techniques & each piece is designed and made by myself.
