About

The Rusty Pallette is an artist's studio where the old is brought back to life though assemblage and oil paint.

I have always been drawn to antique shops. The nostalgia of each and every piece inside overwhelmed me. Who held this item 100 years ago? How did it get into this shop today? These questions gnawed at me. I began collecting relics that called to me from the shelves of these shops I visited. These pieces began filling every corner in my home begging me to tell their story. I began doing just that. I started painting these unique oil paintings and combining them with these special relics that had somehow found their way into my hands. I framed them in strange ways because they deserved better than a normal rectangular frame. No two finished pieces were alike. I learned my style had morphed into something that was quite different from other artists. But what was this style I was creating? I had trouble naming it. Before long I learned there was a growing audience for my art that I had created but couldn't quite name. I was approached by many interested buyers and asked to make more art. Some pieces on consignment and others asked for more originals. I was quite pleased to see the original pieces sold the moment they hit my studio walls. Because these pieces are so unique I continue to have trouble branding myself in the art and craft market. I eventually gave up trying to fit in with the rest of the artists and embraced my strange style. It was time to give my art studio a name. The name 'Rusty Pallette' simply came to me when I looked at the pallette I drew from. It consisted of muted paint tones however there were rusty relics as well. To this day I am still not sure how to describe my artistic style except that so far as I know, it is all my own.

I am still setting up my new studio so pictures will be up soon :)

Thanks for enjoying my Rusty Art.
