block prints + textiles + home goods
I've always had a passion for fabrics. As a child, I often tagged along with my Mom when she needed to buy clothes. Despite her repeated chastising, I simply HAD to touch every single garment that I could reach with my grubby little kid fingers. Though the tactile fascination with fabric started for me at a very young age, it wasn't until my move to Central Oregon that I really began to delve into fabric design. Quilting is very popular here, and fabric shops are abundant.
After inheriting an old sewing machine, I began a creative and educational mission, spending days in the studio sewing anything and everything. Sewing led to embroidery; embroidery led to printing and dyeing my own designs.
Though I enjoy making items out of store-bought fabrics, I get the most pleasure out of creating my own designs. My products incorporate a variety of design methods- hand dyeing, screen printing, block printing, painting, and digital design. Themes tend to revolve around bright colors, water, and organic shapes. In addition to many finished products for sale, you can find my fabric designs available by the yard.
My studio is located within The Workhouse, which is an 8-artist cooperative in Bend, Oregon. The Workhouse is part of the Old Ironworks Arts District, a collection of beautiful old brick warehouses and home to a bakery, a clay studio, a jeweler, another artist cooperative, and many other small businesses.
When I am not working in the studio, I am probably watching European soccer, lifting tiny weights at the gym, or planning some crazy backpacking adventure with my main squeeze and partner in crime, Jason.
The Tangled Path on Etsy emphasizes my original designs, where most products start their life as a humble piece of white fabric before they are dyed, painted and stitched into the items you see here now. Occasionally I find a piece of fabric that is too gorgeous to pass up, and so I enjoy fashioning functional items from these pieces.
My other Etsy shop focuses on items made with found fabrics. Check it out here:
Thank you for your interest and I hope you enjoy what you see!
