Announcement My art comes from whatever I am experiencing. Sometimes they come from images in dreams, other times they represent a particular mood or feeling. I am also fascinated by the circus, mythology and shamanism, so a lot of my imagery is drawn from those scources and informed by other photographers and artists who explore these areas. I make original art on paper or canvas as well as occasionally venturing into into sculpture, textiles and jewellery.

The Recessionists and beyond...
I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil without eating it!
It was my first love.
Yet after graduating in 2008 it took a number of years for me to unearth my passions again. When you are immersed in an art education it can be easy to forget what it is that really excites you! The last few years have been a series of big leaps and jumps as my energy, enthusiasm and cretive flow has found its way back to me like a rive to the sea. It is such a relief! For a while I thought it had dried up.
In 2009 I was fortunate to meet Annie, a wonderful lady who set up a group called The Recessionists, www.therecessionists.co.uk, to promote local artists struggling, like so many, during the onset of the recession.
I enjoyed an exciting period with them where I learned how to do all those practical, buisiness minded things that it would not normally be in my nature to do! I also sold a lot of work. I sold enought work that now my biggest problem is that I have pretty well run out of oil paintings.
I have begun some exciting and ambitious new projects but I am also nopt the type to rush, so it will take time to build up a new collection. It is a good sort of tricky situation to be in and I am grateful. Also, it has provided a vacuum into which new work and ideas are flowing and in the mean time I am living off drawings and portraits.
So I am hard at it.
With two horses in tow, my decision at the start of 2012 to go full time self employed as an artist was a gamble. But I am making it work and now I am setting my sights higher...
So it is not a rags to riches story yet. To be honest, even if I make a fortune I suspect i would still be on the scruffy side!
My hope is that when success comes, people will buy my art because they love it, not because it is fashionable! I love those rare events when somebody finds a piece of art that a hundred people have admired briefly and moved on and yet, for some inexplicable reason, they connect with on a soul level and want to keep on looking. For me, that's what art is for.
Long may it continue.
Love to all,
The big question for me was always 'horses or art?' Then I found that I prefer playing with my horses to working with other people's and I like being self employed - a lot! So I paint all day and relax in the field with the fourleggeds inbetween.
I am passionate about what I produce and I love it when somebody finds a piece of art they connect with. I try to make my art accessible by having variety of items ranging in price and by keeping p&p charges as low as I can. As international prices vary a lot, treat my postage prices as a guide, if I can reduce them once I know the dispatch address I will do so.
I hope you enjoy looking!
