This gorgeous bowl is the answer to two major issues with spinning cotton on metal tahkli spindles! I like sitting in my recliner after dinner, resting my partly disabled legs, watching TV and spinning cotton. Organizing a light wooden support bowl in my lap is real exercise in frustration. The little thing tips, scoots about, and refuses to stay positioned. A second issue with wooden bowls is that metal tipped spindles chew the bowl surface up, pitting the finish and spindle loses RPMs. Your stemmed bowl with ceramic insert solves both issues. Setting the bowl between my legs solves the scooting about issue and having a ceramic bowl to twirl the spindle in solves the loss of RPMs problem. In fact the metal spindle twirls faster and longer than in wood! Thank you so much for a super spindling solution!

Giving New Life to Old Wood.
I started woodworking over fifteen years ago on a tight budget. Several woodworking friends allowed me to take their odds and ends home and work with the smaller pieces of wood. Through countless hours of research and applying every effort for improvement I've been able to refine my woodworking to make the best product possible with the materials at hand. A large majority of wood used is reclaimed or recycled in one way or another. Sometimes the wood is from trees that fell down or needed to be cut down. Other resources are local wood shops who work on an industrial level and end up with smaller odds and ends. I believe in giving the wood a second chance at life.
