Added this to my order because it was on sale and very cute and I knew I could gift it in the future. My boyfriend dibsed it as soon as I unwrapped it! He's going to use it as a pen/post it note/usb catch all case for his work bag.

Got this for my knitting supplies and so far it's great. I love the pattern and the construction is great quality.

This is my second purchase from TheTragicWhale and it's exactly what I was looking for. Kerry was very responsive with my questions about the size - this fits my longer pens perfectly!

Trying to get organized, one pouch at a time.

I started making my own bags and purses because the ones I found in stores couldn't stand up to my abuse, and it didn't seem economical to buy a new bag every time mine ripped or wore out. Plus, it was so hard to find exactly what I was looking for. I'd been sewing for years when I decided to try my hand at bags.

At first I wasn't so hot at it. While my bags weren't falling apart, they definitely looked a little like Frankenstein's monster, having been haphazardly thrown together. As time went on, I started using buttons, then snaps, then zippers. I started focusing on organization, and what bags would help me achieve that. I would come home from work and sew and sew and when my friend told me about Etsy I knew I had a place to share what I was creating.

My work space is very "busy." I work out of my bedroom and there are bright walls, lots of books, and fun trinkets everywhere. My desk gets almost no sunlight, so I photograph my bags outside on sunny days. It's in the basement of a raised ranch so I'm sort of secluded, which I like. I can get in the zone and work largely undisturbed for hours.

The Tragic Whale is evolving every day. I buy most of my supplies from other Etsy sellers, I make all my own patterns, and I just recently started using and researching organic fabric. What started as an occasional hobby has essentially become a second job, and I love every minute of it!

I ship everything first class though USPS. Shipping includes package tracking. If you need something sooner or by a certain date, be sure to let me know in the notes section or by message!

I currently ship to Canada. Your Customs number is also your tracking number. Shipping usually takes about 10 days, but on the rare chance that your order gets tied up in Customs, it can take over a month. If you have additional questions, please ask!
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to enjoy your bag as much as I enjoyed making it- if not more! But I know this isn't always going to happen. I also know that sometimes, things get lost in the mail.

Scenario 1: You hate it.

Please let me know within 5 business days of receiving your bag. You can send it back! BUT you are responsible for return postage, I will not refund your original postage fees, and I will only process your refund when I have the bag back in my possession.

Scenario 2: It's lost.

2-A) All domestic orders come with tracking, so we both know where that package ends up. If USPS has marked it as delivered and it's at your mailing address, I ask that you work with me to find it. Ask your mail delivery person. Check with your post office. Did they leave it at the wrong house? Did it get stuck in the back of the truck? If it's marked as delivered, I am not responsible for a replacement or a refund. These instances will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

2-B) If it's actually lost in the mail, and is not marked as delivered, I will conduct a USPS investigation. This can sometimes take weeks, but fear not! I am relentless. If it is actually lost, we can discuss a refund or a replacement.

If you are a return customer with a history of delivery problems, I will not issue a refund or a replacement.

In any event, if there is ANY problem with your order, please notify me as soon as possible. Mistakes happen. Humans are human. I'll do everything I can to help.

I'm sorry to say that I'm taking a temporary break from custom orders. I just don't have the extra time for them. Thank you so much for your understanding!

Everything listed is made and ready to ship and, unless otherwise noted, you will receive the exact item pictured.
