Trying to get organized, one pouch at a time.

I started making my own bags and purses because the ones I found in stores couldn't stand up to my abuse, and it didn't seem economical to buy a new bag every time mine ripped or wore out. Plus, it was so hard to find exactly what I was looking for. I'd been sewing for years when I decided to try my hand at bags.

At first I wasn't so hot at it. While my bags weren't falling apart, they definitely looked a little like Frankenstein's monster, having been haphazardly thrown together. As time went on, I started using buttons, then snaps, then zippers. I started focusing on organization, and what bags would help me achieve that. I would come home from work and sew and sew and when my friend told me about Etsy I knew I had a place to share what I was creating.

My work space is pretty "busy." I work out of our desk room (the room with all the desks!) and I have a clutter wall covered in cork boards, pictures, and art. The room is well lit and I love being able to look out the window when I'm trying to solve a problem.

The Tragic Whale is ever evolving. I make all my own bag patterns, and I still buy a lot of my supplies from other Etsy sellers. I recently started designing my own prints, so hopefully those will start popping up in the shop soon!

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns, exchanges, and cancellations
Contact me within: 5 days of delivery

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

Returns and exchange details
I want you to enjoy your bag as much as I enjoyed making it- if not more! But I know this isn't always going to happen. I also know that sometimes things get lost in the mail.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES-
I accept returns and exchanges if I am contacted within 5 days of delivery. The item(s) must be mailed back to me within 14 days of delivery, and I must be provided with a tracking number for the package. I will not refund initial shipping charges for returns OR exchanges, and you must pay to ship the item(s) back to me. Refunds and exchanges will be processed once the original item(s) have been delivered to me.

I do not accept returns or exchanged for custom and special orders.

MAIL ISSUES-
I ship everything with the USPS. They are the best at finding lost packages and they allow you to forward first-class (domestic) orders at no additional charge.

If your order is marked as delivered but you did not receive it, you are responsible for finding it. Check with your mail carrier, post office, and neighbors. You will not receive a refund or exchange.

If your order is lost in the mail, please notify me as soon as possible. I will open an investigation through the USPS (something you can do, as well), and in most cases they are able to locate and deliver your order. It usually takes time and your patience is appreciated. You will not receive a refund or replacement through this process UNLESS your order has been deemed lost and unrecoverable. If your order has been deemed lost or unrecoverable, I will offer you a refund or a replacement one time only.


If there is ANY problem with your order, please contact me as soon as possible!
Payment
I accept Paypal, credit cards, and Etsy gift cards.
Shipping
Orders are mailed out within 3-5 business days after payment posts. Saturdays and Sundays are not counted as business days. I do not ship orders on Saturdays.

I ship to the Etsy shipping address you provide at checkout. If you have entered the incorrect address, please send me a message with the correct address as soon as possible.

Overages of $1 and greater will be refunded after order has shipped.

Shipping costs can include cost of shipping and shipping supplies.

Domestic-

I ship everything first class though USPS. Shipping includes package tracking. If you need something sooner or by a certain date, be sure to let me know in the notes section or by message.

International-

I currently ship Internationally. Your Customs number is also your tracking number. Shipping usually takes about 10 days, but on the rare chance that your order gets tied up in Customs, it can take over a month. If you have additional questions, please ask!

Additional policies and FAQs
Orders can be canceled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund. I will not mail orders out sooner than 24 hours. If you request to have an order canceled AFTER 24 hours, please understand that I may have already mailed it. In those cases, regular Return & Exchange policies will apply (please see the "Returns and Exchanges Details" section above for additional information).


TIME SENSITIVE ORDERS-
I consider anything that you need to have in your possession within 14 calendar days to be a time sensitive order. This is why: I have my shipping time frame marked as 3-5 business days, which are Monday - Friday only. If you order something on Monday the 1st, 5 business days brings us to the following Monday the 8th. And since packages usually take about 3 days to travel around the country, your order won't arrive until Thursday the 11th. And one winter storm or hurricane an delay that delivery a couple more days.

I try not to wait until the 5th business day to mail things but sometimes I have to, depending on my schedule for the week. Winter storms and hurricanes aren't usually a problem for the USPS, but winter 2014/2015 was a rough one and almost everything I ordered was delayed at least 2 days because of snow. I would rather err on the side of caution and have you tell me that you need something by a certain date than assume that it will arrive by a certain date.


I do not offer discounts on bulk orders.
