TheTudorTailor's Shop Announcement

New for February: The Tudor Tailor has dates for your 2016 diary!

The 2016 diary is already buzzing with Tudor Tailor events. Uppsala in Sweden will be the first Scandinavian country to welcome Jane and Ninya in the spring. Event dates are Fri 4, Sat 5, Sun 6 March 2016. Early birds should book before Fri 22 January 2016 to receive an unpainted pewter Tudor Tailor figure sculpted by Michael Perry. There is a Facebook page for the event with more details (https://www.facebook.com/Tudor-Tailor-till-Uppsala-2016-1074718842539320) or you can visit tudortailor.com for more information.

The Tudor Child exhibition will be on show at the City Museum in Gloucester, UK from Sat 19 March to Sat 2 July. A gala opening event is planned for Fri 18 March.

The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation has invited Jane and Ninya to Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center to participate in an exciting long weekend of turn-of-the-16th/17th-century clothing events on Fri 24, Sat 25, Sun 26 June. This includes a field trip to Historic Jamestown, a behind-the-scenes tour of Jamestown Settlement (with lunch and dinner) on Fri 24 June. A Tudor Tailor presentation based on new research to be published in The Typical Tudor follows in the evening. On Saturday, there are four Typical Tudor workshops for half the group and a specialist lecture programme (see below) for the other half. In the evening, participants are invited to attend a buffet reception with music in James Fort in historic dress. On Sunday, the groups swap over to enjoy the workshops/lectures.

Speakers include Brenda Rousseau on the Pocahontas 1614 wedding project at Colonial Williamsburg, Daniel Rosen on canvas doublets in the new world, Matthew Gnagy on “secret shrinking and stretching”, and Samantha McCarty on the Wolstenholme Town ear iron. Other speakers include Mark Hutter, Colonial Williamsburg´s tailor, and Noel Gieleghem of Facebook´s Elizabethan Costume.

Tickets for the full three-day programme including field trips, tours and event meals will cost $300. Reserve yours here: http://www.historyisfun.org/learn/homeschool-scouts/historic-clothing-conference/.

Happy sewing and shopping,
Jane & Ninya
