About

The best work is by accident.

As a creative my choice of medium has always been painting. I like to call my paintings "Kitchen Art" because they are colorful, bright and happy.

However one day full of inspiration and without canvas I was craving something to create, anything. While rummaging through the house for something to paint, searching, pondering, I stopped for a second in the middle of my room, hands on my hips, I thought: what can I paint? Maybe a leather purse, a table, a chair, all of which have been my previous canvas alternate, I realized I wanted something different, unusual.

Then, I found myself starring at an old Samsonite train case nestled amongst some boxes in the garage. It was an epiphany, a glorious rendezvous of imagination! Suddenly in a delightful fury I gathered up all my decorative paper, glue, scissors, old magazines and there it began: a new journey of artful expression. My first case sold at an Eco Friendly shop The Green Cube in Laguna Beach CA. and since I've been selling my words and wares at various coffee shops and boutiques in Colorado and California.

Recently I've added home decor and jewelry to my shop featuring "Word Bird", you will notice him prominently featured on most items. All items are created utilizing 80% recycled materials.

I began selling the cases on Etsy at my vintage site LeVintageFind http://www.levintagefind.etsy.com; with such a great response on the cases, I created The Upcycled Word.

I recycle vintage goods into modern wares; vintage cases are my specialty. I love the creative versatility as I upcycle each case; each case has a definitive design determined either by its shape or by a color or pattern inspiration.

Welcome! My shop is an assortment of goods made from 80% recycled materials. My specialty is Upcycling vintage train cases. I utilize various recycled papers and materials to create a one of a kind case designed to inspire.

Each case has a unique theme with specially chosen recycled paper and materials from various sources. Each one is completed with an acrylic finish to protect from the elements and fading. Each item is carefully, artfully and lovingly constructed from various material sources, especially designed for the buyer who is whimsy yet savvy.

Side Note: For buyers who like to make shopping decisions based on feedback (and rightly so) you'll note my feedback to sales ratio is low.

While I don't solicit for feedback, I have emailed buyers to inquire about their satisfaction of their purchase (I want to know too) and all are happy and enjoy their purchase. Most items were a gift therefore no feedback was left and others, very happy with their purchase, really don't leave feedback for anyone.

To assure you of the quality and care put in my creations I thought this might be helpful for your shopping & buying decisions. For additional feedback ratings please visit my first Etsy shop LeVintageFind. Feel free to contact me with any questions etc.
