About TheVinoChateau
We Make Your Box Look Good
I LOVE wine! Boxed Wine specifically. And we go through a LOT of it. I love to try all kinds of Boxed Wine. I love the way it tastes, the way it travels, the way it sounds coming out of its delightful little spout… etc. etc. But what I don’t love is the way it looks sitting on my counter. That beat up cardboard box just sitting there, taking up my precious space and looking like a hot mess. The worst is when my husband takes the bladder of wine OUT of the box to get that last little bit… my kitchen looked like a blood bank!
For years I talked about finding a way to make our boxed wine collection look better. A container of some sort that would hide the cardboard box but still allow access to the glory that it holds. Something that you could proudly carry to a gathering and not feel banished for bringing your box. A way to almost display this love for Boxed Wine! I talked about my idea often… mostly after having a few glasses of wine with my girlfriends… and would think of different ideas and ways to design this contraption. It became my “some day…” dream that I would get around to when I had the extra time and money.
Well… in 2013, my “some day” finally came. The first design of this box wine cover was created. It was FAR from perfect. BUT it was fabulous! It was constructed with left over wood from an old boat yard in Annapolis, MD. We were able to make about 10 of them. By the time we finished those, they were all sold. Mostly to friends and neighbors offering to help get things going. The interest was there so I had to push forward.
My husband, the gorgeous genius that he is, came up with Vino Chateau as a name and I LOVED it! We worked at it a while… lots of friends and lots of wine… and the tagline eventually came: We Make Your Box Look Good. I quickly got to work on a logo and TA DA!!
Welcome to the world Vino Chateau!
I have since learned a LOT! I have attended 100's of wine festivals, arts and crafts shows and local pop up shops. I started with Etsy in spring of 2017. The Vino Chateau has be redesigned a few times to become what it is today. I learned how to mix up shellac using flakes and denatured alcohol and then color that shellac with Transtint Dye. Thats where the finish and the colors come from.
The Vino Chateau is a legit small home based business. Though I get the wood cut by a company in Pennsylvania, the rest is done by me in my kitchen or tiny she-shed. I work through many long nights to fulfill our orders and I wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you for reading this far and PLEASE reach out should you have any questions!
