What Happened to My Dining Room?

This was nothing I ever dreamed would happen, a shop here on Etsy. But, here I am.
I inherited many vintage items from both of my Grandmothers over the years, which I kept in an old trunk for many years, not knowing exactly what to do with them. Then, in 2010, my Mom passed away and there it was! Tons of STUFF, most of it old, and all of it destined to become part of a vast collection right in the middle of my dining room!
Most of my pieces are actually from my own past. Things my grandmothers made or gave to me, things from my childhood that I lost track of... Or that my Mother 'saved' all these years.
She was a collector, my Mom; a collector who knew not when to stop. When she passed away in 2010, we discovered the startling truth: she was a hoarder. Just like the ones on the TV show! Oy! But, she had many, many lovely things in that hoard. I fancied the jewelry most of all. She lived in Ohio and I live in Florida, so I hauled boxes and boxes of her stuff down here with me, and saved them from the jaws of the incompetent auctioneer. And now I share with you.
At 60-something years of age, I have found a real passion in life, and I couldn't be happier. Turning my dining room into a collectors paradise is the best thing that has happened to the seldom used room. If Hubs would just let me get rid of the dining table, buffet, and china cabinet, I'd have a lot more room for the things I really love; vintage, vintage, and more vintage.
I intend to sell many pieces just as they are, in all their vintage glory. Other items will be assemblages, upcycled, recycled, repurposed, by me, but they will all have vintage elements.

Welcome to The Vintage Funkery! I am so pleased to be able to offer to you some of my cherished family heirlooms and collectibles. Vintage pieces, by their very nature, are unpredictable and fragile. I describe to the best of my ability through description and photos. I'm a member of the Integrity of Vintage Team. This means that I guarantee that anything that is listed as vintage, is at least 20 years old, per Etsy's guidelines.

PLEASE make sure you understand my shop policies BEFORE you make your purchase. You can reach me here on Etsy or you can email me at thevintagefunkery [!at], if you have questions or concerns.

If I misrepresent any item, I will gladly make all necessary adjustments to make it right with you. Your satisfaction is the most important part of our transaction. You must contact me here at Etsy, or email me at thevintagefunkery [!at], and let me know your issue so we can resolve it together. Otherwise, returns are on a case by case basis and must be brought to my attention within 3 days of receiving your purchase.
If an item arrives damaged please let me know right away! I'll need pictures of the damage and the packaging for insurance claim purposes. You can send pictures by contacting me here at Etsy, or through my email at thevintagefunkery [!at]

I pack your purchase with care and I recycle clean, sturdy boxes, etc. whenever possible. You might get your item in an Amazon, QVC or HSN box. I usually ship USPS first class. If you need an item in a hurry, let me know BEFORE you checkout so I can adjust the shipping and the cost of Priority or Express for you.

We have a smoke free, Labrador retriever lovin' home. I don't charge extra for doggie hairs that may be included in your package. Seriously, they're everywhere.

I do not take away the lovely patina from my vintage pieces, but I do make sure you don't get an excessively gross item. Sometimes, these things need a little scrub before I send it out to you.

I use Paypal and direct checkout through Etsy. You do not need an account with Paypal ( they allow a few times) to use the service. Please make sure that the "ship to" address is the same as the one on Paypal or it causes confusion and delay. I might ask you to confirm your address if you are not verified with Paypal. The quicker you get back to me with it, the quicker I can send out your purchase.
I usually ship via USPS with shipping confirmation. There are several variables involved in shipping items, such as, size/weight of package, ship-to zip code, etc. A jewelry item in a padded envelope can be as low as $2.50. I will cheerfully refund if there is a $2.00 or more difference in actual shipping cost. For international shipments the buyer is responsible for any duties, customs and taxes levied by their individual countries.
Please contact me here on Etsy or email me at thevintagefunkery [!at] if you have specific shipping preferences or needs. I'll do my very best to accommodate your request.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns on a case by case basis. If a return is accepted by me, you will be asked to pay for return shipping and insurance. It should be in the same condition and packaging in which you received it. You'll have three days from the time you received your item to contact me here at Etsy or my email thevintagefunkery [!at] and let me know your issue.

If something arrives damaged, you need to let me know right away, PLEASE. I'll need pictures of the damage and the packaging to submit to insurance.

Thanks for your understanding.
