Exactly what I was looking for!
My Crafty Life.
I have always loved sewing, knitting and crochet having been taught these skills by my mum. I first started making clothes for myself in the 1970's and relished the freedom to express my individuality by choosing my own style and fabrics.
In recent years I have put a lot of my energies into knitting and crochet but after watching The Great British Sewing Bee on TV I have now returned to my passion for sewing. I have a personal collection of vintage sewing patterns and want to give others the opportunity to create their own retro style. I am now working on having a completely me-made wardrobe as possible!
Many things I have made have also been embellished with embroidery and I love tapestry as well. I try to find iron-on transfers or embroidery items during my searches for sewing patterns and offer these for sale as they are available.
Sustainability is important to me and being able to use a pre-loved item fit this ethos. I was brought up to minimise waste as much as possible. If an item can be re-purposed instead of buying new it was actively encouraged. I had many happy hours in charity shops with my Mum and still do the same with my sister!
My mum taught me to sew when I was quite young and all through high school and college I made my own clothes. Any bought clothes were also embellished as I love my individuality!
