Announcement    a few things to keep in mind when you are thinking about a custom paddle:

~first, think about the concept, you want something that is an icon, that will be easy to recognize if indeed you are going to use it to make an impression. if your design is multiple colors its going to end up having stepped depths and when you try to leave an impression its likely the most prominent (darkest color) will make the most impression. its best to think in simple graphics and silhouettes.

~detail and text, yes our production process is highly precise and we can produce fine detail and text, even with line thickness around .2"
however, consider, when that becomes a paddle to use, the thin lines and smaller text where the letter stroke is fairly thin that will break the skin. Also remember that for the most part the paddle is only making contact in a fairly small area, most of the icon paddles we have been doing have been keeping the design in a 3 -5" area of impact, any larger than that the design will not make even contact and you wont get the full impression.

our paddles are milled from a single piece of hardwood, so the standard here is appx 3/4" material, milled to have about a 1/4" raised graphic, leaving somewhere around a 1/2" thick main body. on most designs we can leave a bit of a rounded edge on the graphics so they still make an impression but the edge is not square, which would again be more prone to breaking the skin.
remember the person on the receiving end is as unique as the paddle is, so everyone will mark differently.

wood types~
our wood supplier is fantastic and stocks great hardwoods and exotics, the woods he commonly has available are'
Maple
Walnut

Meranti Mahogany

Exotics:

other woods do come available but not as consistent and some are rare warranting additional costs. if you have a specific wood in mind, ask me I might be able to track it down.
