Meet the Owner of Themosaicdoor
owner, Fashion designer, seamstress, financial overseer
The Mosaic Door started with vintage Items that were handpicked , steam/dry-cleaned, then inventoried.
I have always had the "artist blood" in me and around me.
I have been sewing since I can remember. Sitting on the porch, overlooking the lake and embroidering with my special abuelita (grandmother). She was the one that taught me to read a pattern, To know my fabrics, and to measure.
We spent endless days and nights talking about her mom...who taught her how to sew...
My great grandmother was that one economic mother who made clothing from feed-sack bags. She passed on valuable knowledge that would have been otherwise lost in the centuries.
I am the lucky one in the family who has inherited this treasure box of knowledge. It is my duty to share it..and pass it on.
After making custom items for local customers, families, and friends the custom orders starting pouring in.
I started posting pictures on the Facebook of the custom orders after I finished them and that quickly led to more orders.
This led to creating my own clothing label The Mosaic Door (TMD). Interest has grown so much that a few local independent boutiques now carry one of a kind limited pieces.
As I sculpture/ model most of my dresses on a dress- form instead of constructing and using pattern, you will always get a unique piece.
I decided to open a shop on Etsy, because it allows me to make the items individual for my customers, and I will also use this shop to sell discounted sample pieces that have been worn in photoshoots and runways.
There is a desire to have something custom taliored made...from scratch...with quality work.
Many new parents want that special piece of clothing that will be their keepsake.
I get a thrill of using recycled materials to create something entirely different ,new, and fashion forward.
MY main goal is to sell all of the VINTAGE items in the store and only carry TMD custom order designs.
