About

For the love of non-ferrous metals

For 12 years following college, I traveled with students exploring the southwest, living on the Navajo reservation, running rivers, and teaching rock climbing in Mexico. I also traveled to Europe, South America and was an avid scuba-diver. In the mean time I maintained my interest in jewelry work and considered it my "therapy" during breaks from my extensive travels. My interest in natural forms comes from my love of nature, which I shared with my students. After years of traveling I taught Jewelry and metal-smithing on the High School and College level. I also sold work to galleries.

In 1992 I began my full-time jewelry making career. Though my designs are inspired by nature, I tend to take a minimalist view in my art by extracting certain simple but unique compositions, based on experimenting and pushing the limits of traditional jewelry making techniques.

From 1993-1999 I spent six years in the Washington D.C. area with my husband and two children. While in Washington I continued my professional career as a jewelry artist and served as vice-president of the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths. Also, included in my duties was to help coordinate the Society of North American Goldsmiths conference in Washington DC as well as chairperson for the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths member show in 1998.

Today, I have a studio and reside in Lakewood Colorado with my family where I make hand crafted unique pieces that will be sure to grab your attention for years to come. My work is available on Etsy, my own website, and local art festivals in Colorado.

I rarely carve waxes to make a piece. I prefer to work directly with forming, shaping, raising the metal. I consider myself more of a metal smith than a wax smith. After forming, forging, and working to construct metal pieces I sometimes have a mold made from the original.

I purchase sheet and wire metals, findings from green (recycled) metals program, and this facility is almost 100% SOLAR POWERED!. Some sheet and wire metals, findings, are sourced from recycled metals and SCS 100% recycled metals certified. These products are made in the USA from certified recycled metals.

Some of my original pieces I make from sheet and wire materials are molded and then cast into limited editions. Often times these castings are re- worked by me and changed, to make each piece a unique piece or variation of the original. I use a casting and Mold making service in Denver for some mold making and casting of my constructed original pieces. Some of my designs are made with CAD and then molded and cast.

I think I was born with a rock in my hand. Early on I collected rocks and learned to love and appreciate all of Earth's beautiful gifts. In 7th grade I took a jewelry making class which developed into a lifelong love of all things metal and rock.
