One med student, one nurse practitioner, one plasma cutting CNC table. Think Metal.

Our shop evolved from a passion for creativity and a desire for a tangible, service based business. When we first began planning for our new business about a year ago, Seth was awaiting for admittance into medical school and I, Jordan, was many months pregnant with our first child. We wanted a business that, not only could sustain us as a small family, but also allow a lifestyle of flexibility and autonomy. We both grew up loving the outdoors and working with our hands and knew that was a vital requirement to our new venture. So much of medicine can be sitting behind a computer and we wanted a business that allowed for hands on application. We sure found that in Think Metal. While we do use a computer to design and cut your custom signs, art, and parts; we also have to constantly move metal around the shop, grind off dross that is left after plasma cutting, and paint each product as requested. The entire process from mock up's to shipping is so satisfying to us as a family. That satisfaction is only heightened when we receive feedback from you about how this product is perfect for your home, office, or other space.

We officially launched Think Metal about a month before Seth received his acceptance into medical school and just a few short weeks later we welcomed our son into this world. We have since moved our small family and business from Tyler, Texas to Parker, Colorado and Seth is officially a 'student doctor'. The last two years has been a wild ride and, at times, very stressful, but we thank you, our customer, for bringing us your thoughts and ideas and allowing us to Think Metal.

As the founder of Think Metal, I guide our team in the creation of high quality, unique custom-metal goods. As a maker, I spend a lot of time thinking outside the box. My greatest enjoyment is making the item that you 'couldn't find anywhere else'.

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details

Maximum: Anything up to 48″ on one contiguous piece. Minimum: Varies, some fonts require a certain size to preserve detail.

What type of metal do you use?

Most of our products use 16 gauge hot or cold rolled steel. We have thicker options available depending on your project needs.

Can you make my logo?

Yes! Most of the time we are able to digitize and cut your business logo from metal. Please attach a high resolution photo of your logo when you contact us.

What colors are available?

We use the best Rustoleum primer+paint we can buy. We readily stock satin clear enamel, textured and flat black, matte charcoal, oil rubbed bronze, satin red, flat antique nickel, and textured and flat white.

Do you have any limitations when using a plasma CNC machine?

Intricate details begin to get lost the smaller the project is. Larger projects show better detail and look cleaner overall. This mostly becomes an issue with custom logos and lettering. We will be sure to let you know if the specifications of your request will not cut well.

What type of files do you accept?

We love adobe illustrator files (.ai). Anything vector format will be fine as well (.pdf .png) . We can digitize .jpg files, but send the highest resolution you have available to you; this will result in higher detail.

What information do you need for a custom order?

In order to expedite the design process, please contact us with the following information:

1. desired size of project
2. indoor or outdoor application
3. desired color
4. if you need any special fabrication. We can predrill holes for no extra charge or weld tabs on the back of your sign for a small fee.
5. any further instructions or ideas

What is your processing time once I buy an item?

Our current processing time is 10-14 days from purchase to shipping.

Need it fast?

Rush options are always available, the quickest turnaround time possible is 24 hours. Contact us for information about these fees.
