Announcement    Spring is probably the best time of the year to celebrate with air plants. They love a mix of rain, foggy mornings and sun🌦.

They make great gifts and garden party decorations! 🎈 🎁 But, mostly they make people smile and teach everyone about the wonders of nature!

Tillandsia are not the only air plants. Epiphytes, like tillandsia, grow upon other plants. This large epiphyllum produces its flower cherry_blossom upon its leaf and is pictured on the trunk of an almond tree. deciduous_tree
There is a new option for a footed birdcage. This white washed cage is ringed by a pretty garland of leaves. It is pictured with Capitita v. Domengensis, but other airplants are also available.
This past week I social isolated at TSR & welcomed the first blink of Spring to our little valley. deciduous_tree The daily rain rain_cloud made for perfect airplant conditions and cleansed everything!
Thank you to those who so patiently waited for my return!

About ThistleSpringsRanch

Thistle Springs Ranch a sliver of nature's beauty on the Central Coast of California! Products featured are inspired by life on the ranch!

I've been growing plants for many years and Thistle Springs Ranch has wonderful conditions for air plants. The hint is the various types of moss naturally hanging from the many limbs of the oak trees.

Tillandisia, or air plants, are easy to grow and need little care as long as they have some humidity and a nook or cranny to call their own.

This shop is about finding new ways to feature these versatile plants and sharing them with others!

There are also a few accessories, white sage and ergonomic garden tools for those with functional limitations. I you suffer from chronic conditions and live with physical limitations, you may also want to visit http://thielst.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Care instructions

Tillandisia and other air plants adapt to their environment, but periodic rain and humidity, along with air circulation, is needed for a happy plant.

During especially dry periods, and upon receipt of your purchase, soak your air plant in a bowl of water for five minutes and/or spritz with fresh water.

Light: Bright, but filtered light April through October.. They will enjoy direct sun November through March.

Temperature: Optimum temperatures range fr tillandsias outdoors are 50 - 90 degrees F.

Fertilizer: Periodically a little orchid or other fertilizer will give air plants a needed boost. Rainwater can also provide nutrients for air plants.
