Announcement   TLP is printing and sewing and sewing and typing. Letterpress printing and typewriters. Hand-sewn experiments and bookbinding. It is the machinery of words and the thread that binds them.

All of these items are made in a home full to the brim with pets, but no smoke. Not to worry though: typewriter cozies and printer’s aprons will be laundered before shipment, should any of you be allergic to crazy dogs and/or lazy cats.

Most items will ship next day. I try my best for speedy and painless transactions. If you need international shipping, just ask.

Custom orders? Sure thing! Just send me a message with your idea and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

I would love to talk to you! Seriously. Any questions, just send me a message via Etsy Conversations or at threadlockpress [!at] gmail.com. It would probably make my day.

TLP got a blog feature on UPPERCASE magazine by Janine Vangool! Read it here: http://uppercasemagazine.com/blog/2012/10/5/girl-friday-lindsay-lusby#.UG7uXUJgu-I

Simple little item, but just a very cool subject. Will be part of a bigger project, but just fit what I was looking for perfectly.

About

the machinery of words + the thread that binds them

Thread Lock Press is about both the hard-ware and the soft-ware in the glorious history of the book: from cast-iron printing presses, lead type, and metal typewriters to vintage fabrics, cotton-rag papers, and spools of waxed linen thread. It is the space between, where all of these elements come together in one form or another.

I cannot stick to making just one sort of thing because I am forever curious and attempting to innovate. I grew up with two grandmothers who loved to sew and they were my teachers in hand-sewing. In college, I immersed myself in the ink and grit of the print shop. My love of the typewriter is a post-college romance, but certainly no fling. Books have been a constant influence in my life since I learned to read.

Many of the things I have made here are things I imagined because I felt they were things the world still lacked. These things are my Poetic License letterpress broadside and my typewriter cozies. When I want or need something that I cannot buy, for whatever reason, I do my best to make it for myself. I imagine things. I just can't help myself.
