My story
My sewing life started when I would make clothes for my doll (yes I only had one!) while my mum sewed for the family. This was in the days when all mothers had to know how to sew and knit. I loved the process of changing a scrap of material into something pretty. My mum let me use her old treadle Singer sewing machine and by the time I was a teenager I had learnt to make clothes for myself that were better fitting, more imaginative and more stylish than could be expected on a student budget. I pursued a career as a scientist, but continued to sew: shirts for my husband, baby/toddler/children's clothes for a son and two daughter, lots of dance costumes, dresses for myself, and a Wedding Dress for my daughter.
I now sew for enjoyment, and I find that the imagination I use in designing and making things for children gives me a great deal of pleasure. The clothes and gifts in my shop are sewn with the same love and care as I sew for my family, and with the rigour that my career as a scientist has instilled in me. So all of my items are designed and made individually using imagination and scientific precision in equal measure!
