Welcome to my Shop!
I have been making and restoring antique quilts for 39 years. I am the former owner of Keepsake Quilts in Lenox, Massachusetts, and Kennebunkport Maine, and have taught over 65 classes of beginning quilters and countless advanced and specialty classes and workshops. I am always happy to share knowledge and will be happy to restore your antique quilts to perfection.
Many of my latest pieces are collaborations with quilters who lived long ago: they made pieces I have restored, or have added to or enhanced in some way. I am ever mindful of their work, and try to honor it. Many did not have the machinery or know-how to make something as we do today, but they really wanted to make it. Some were beginners, many were quite experienced and obviously loved doing it, those obviously only require a bit of cleaning on my part. These women used what they had, old clothes or linens, feed and flour sacks -- which became the perfect partner for the Great Depression -- or old blankets that were dear to them. Others were lucky enough to be able to purchase dedicated fabric to create a quilt for themselves, their family members or their friends. The quilt speaks volumes about the maker, their lives and their world.
If you have questions on restoring an old quilt, and especially of you have questions on cleaning your old piece, please write me, I will be happy to help. And if you would like one of my quilt tops quilted, please let me know and I will get you info on pricing.
