About

Supporting A Habit

I opened my first shop on Etsy, Three Chicks Vintage, in 2008, with my sister, Diana (now the proprietess of Boom Town Vintage) and my youngest daughter Katie. Our mother had passed suddenly, and her most treasured possession, a beautiful Dragon Ware cup and saucer with a lithopane, passed to my sister. Part of our grieving process turned into an obsession with Dragon Ware, which turned into an obsession with everything vintage. We spent weekends "junking", and quickly accumulated a hoard that we had neither the space to use or display in our homes. My daughter, Katie, not yet in school, developed quite an eye for Dragon Ware, and would spot it in dusty corners and turn her Aunt or her Mom onto the find, depending upon whose skirt she was tugging on that day!
This went on until Katie was a teenager, by which time she had procured a few vintage goodies on her own. Agreeing that the hunt was more fun than possession, we decided to open Three Chicks Vintage.
Eventually we split our business, Katie becoming too busy with band, sports and boys, my sister and I having agreeable but different approaches to shopkeeping.
I kept the original name for a few years, but it no longer fit. When I experienced a major change in my life, it became time to change my shop name as well.
My name, Deborah, is "the bee" in Greek, and I love vintage, thus "Bee-Loved Vintage" was born.
I love bargain-hunting, crafting from vintage, and making my customers happy with fair prices on my finds and creations. Because of my budget, I've never delved into higher end vintage and antiques, but I enjoy the affordable pieces and being able to pass my good deals onto my customers.
I currently have two other shops: The Happy Hoarder (which features primarily vintage creative supplies - fabric, buttons, ephemera), and Rushcreek Originals, which features goods handcrafted from vintage. Both of these shops are on hiatus while my life re-settles.
