Fateful events open opportunity to work at home.

I am the 4th generation of women sewers in my family. My great-grandma had professional training and passed it on. I have three wonderful children with extra needs, so it seemed a horrible twist of fate that we were in two car accidents that forced me out of the workplace just as the economy tanked. My husband is still finishing his studies to be an RN, so it seemed an impossible situation.
The big idea came when a friend commented, "But you're so talented! Couldn't you be making money with your handwork?"
This was the beginning of Three Needle Clothier. I chose the name because I have a history degree and Three Needle Street, or Threadneedle Street, is the historical center of the Tailor district in London, England. I have sewn lots of different things from toys to Elizabethan corsets! If I haven't done it yet I'm sure the project could be accomplished.
The drawback at this point is my lack of a decent camera and the fact that I've taken over 1/3rd of the apartment to be my work and storage space!
The benefit, however, is that I'm home and the creative process is making me "me" again so I can be there for the people who need me most.
My children and husband are my inspiration, support and my peanut gallery. Each has a unique ability I use to help me on my way.
The big event now is preparing for our debut at the BC Renaissance Festival in July! Tabards, coronets, princess gowns and pirate wear are in the making and should be available on Etsy soon.
