Thank you so much for everything! The keyfob was beautiful and fit my mother's hand/wrist perfectly. I will recommend you to friends and buy from you again. Happy Holidays!

About

You will find African Jewelry, African fabric supplies & African Fabric Accessories here.

Thrifty Upenyu specializes in ankara zipper pouches, head wraps, key fobs and african fabric jewelry.

I started Thrifty Upenyu because I always struggled with the vibrant colors found in African fabric since I love to wear dark colors - grey, navy and black. Colors that are not exactly popular when it comes to African Fabric. I would buy tons of fabric, thinking I could have a dress and a doek (headwrap) tailored for me, but I just could not do it.

Making accessories has been my way of expressing my love for African fabric and at the same time my inability to have on my person, more than a small splash of color.

Thrifty Upenyu is also a reflection of values instilled in me as I grew up in Zimbabwe. Upenyu is Shona for life - hence Thrifty life. As a child thrift was not only encouraged but proved to be necessary for survival at times. I apply this life lesson in my business, and ensure that the resulting products are not only striking and good value for money but are durable.

Stop by often as I am constantly sewing and adding new products to my store.

Will a yard of fabric be adequate for a head wrap?

Yes it will! However, it is not versatile enough to give you many styling options. A yard is 36"x44" while an average head wrap is 22"x 70"
