About

What to do with 17 years of accumulated sea glass...

When I was seventeen and ready to leave my native New Brunswick for university in Ottawa, Canada, I decided that I could not part with the piles and piles of beach glass I had collected over much of my life while passing summers on the Northumberland Strait. But I couldn't justify lugging it across the country just to sit in Tupperware containers. So I decided to experiment wire-wrapping, a craft that had always intrigued me. Thrown and Floating Stones was born two years later and joined the Etsy community in 2013. The shop name comes from a line of poetry by a talented young writer I met while studying journalism in Ottawa that to me, captures the process of glass smoothed by water and sand.

Each piece is unique, as no beach glass is exactly the same and the designs I make are tailored to the shape and color of the glass. Some are fun, some are a bit hippie and others are elegant.

When people ask me about my jewelry I always talk about growing up in New Brunswick and how important living by the water was to me. Every piece of beach glass is a part of Eastern Canada and its shorelines that I love sharing with the rest of the country (and beyond!)

Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders: Are welcome! Some of my most interesting pieces came from custom requests. I love working with your ideas to make you something even more special!

Please allow 1-5 business days for custom orders to ship. I will send you a photo of the final product for approval and ship right after.

Mailing address: Please assure that your mailing address is correct. Shipping charges are covered by the buyer if an item must be reshipped due to an incorrect address.

Jewelry Care Instructions : Do not wear your jewelry while bathing or swimming. The types of metal wire I use (sterling silver, copper, gold) all stay in their best condition when protected from oxygenation. For this purpose, I give you a small plastic bag for storing your jewelry that comes with your order. But no need to obsess, hanging or gently placing your pieces will also give you years of wear.
My pieces are very solid, but as they are wire wrapped, do not pull on or apart the wire.
