About TickingDepot
Welcome! Thank you for stopping by our Ticking Depot.
We love antique fabrics. And specifically ticking fabrics. We have a collection of over 200 ticking fabrics available that we want to share with you. They are all unique pieces. They really are the last ticking fabrics with such genuine features. The quality of the fabric, the colours and the motifs make these pieces very limited in Europe.
These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. This type of fabrics were used to make mattress covers that were normally filled by sheep's wool. It is a very durable and resistant fabric but at the same time absorbent and breathable.
These fabrics have two characteristics that differentiate them from other European mattress fabrics: colour and motifs. There are reds, garnets, lilac, blues, greens, browns, oranges, yellows, roses, etc. The motifs are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, etc. Sometimes the designs remind us of the motifs of the French Toile de Jouy. There are also fabrics with many colorful stripes and twill or sateen fabric along with damask.
We have been researching the history of these wonderful textiles for years and we are still surprised that such bright colors and special fabric were used for something that was normally going to be hidden from view. We now want to give them the value they have and we propose to use them to upholster, make cushions, bags or period decorations.
We have fabrics of two qualities: unused production remnants and parts recovered from old mattresses. The remains of production are a real find - in perfect original condition. Unique pieces with more footage intact.
We have tried to describe the condition of the recovered pieces clearly, you can always ask us for more images or information. We'll be happy to tell you more.
Learn about the history of these beautiful fabrics in our blog: www.beldabelda.com or follow us in Instagram @tickingdepot.
We hope you like the fabrics you see, but there are many more. Don't hesitate to ask us. We add new fabrics almost every week. Follow our store with the FAVOURITE button ❤︎ to be up to date with all news.
