Announcement   Doing My Best To Make The Finest Tie Dyes Available~ TieDyeSteve.Com ~~ Also on Facebook~

Most of my shirts are in the $30 -$45 range, but a small few are $120-$150+ each because I spend anywhere from 6 to 14 hours hand stitching the detail before I apply color, up to 24 hours of stitching for some tapestries, then I have to cut the stitches and pull them out, as I rinse it~

These (stitched) designs are labor intensive, so I cannot wholesale the originals, and the price (on the originals) is not negotiable, but I do sell prints of some designs, for $25 each, and wholesale inquiries (on the prints and handmade traditional designs) are welcome.

About

The Work Of Tie Dye Steve

I began making tie dyes in 1983, quite by accident. I was in the Army, and spilled some bleach in the laundry room. I wiped it up with an O.D. green t shirt, and it looked pretty cool. I even got in trouble, for wearing it under my uniform.

Then, in 1984, I made a few shirts just for fun, at a Unitarian Conference in Virginia, known as SUUSI. As I was taking them out of the dryer, people wanted to buy them from me, and I knew that I was on to something. I've taught many workshops, and made many new designs, since then.

My various designs have been the result of people challenging me to do shapes, symbols, and even their favorite cartoon characters.

I am constantly making new pieces, so if you don't find what you need here, whether you need a different size, or color combination, or if you'd like a custom design, send me a message, and I'll do my best to make what you want~

    Owner, Maker, Designer, Artist, Owner

I've spent the last twenty eight years travelling all over the U.S., making and selling my tie dye designs on T Shirts and Tapestries, Practicing and Teaching Martial Arts, and playing music with friends all over the Country, enjoying many quality experiences while doing it. I've been told, by many people, including other tie dyers, that my dyes are the finest in the world, and worth every penny that I charge for them, but I am aquainted with tie dyers all over the world, and we are all friends, so I do my best to treat compliments with humility, and with respect for my friends. I also have a dog (Dobie) and a cat (Kazoushi). Dobie travels with me often, and even wears sunglasses when we drive. Kazoushi usually stays where the food is, but she has come along on a few trips as well. They both have their own photo album, in and among my own, on Facebook, so check them out~

Hey now, My name is Steve Anderson, and I do my best to make the finest tie dyes available. I enjoy travelling all over the US, making and selling my art, and actually spending time with a great deal of the people who buy my work. I teach workshops for schools and parties, so I'm fairly seasoned at making sure to be able to do my work wherever I go. I consider my work to more in the line of art, than merchandise, and I take every purchase very seriously, as some of my best friends were customers first.

I hope you'll enjoy looking through my work, and of course, I hope you'll find a piece that you'd like to own, or give as a gift to someone that you really like~

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I require payment in advance. I have paypal and credit card capabilities set up on etsy, and I accept checks and money orders by mail. Items paid by check will be shipped when it clears in my merchant account. I trust you, but I don't trust the scam artist who might be pretending to be you...
Shipping
I usually use USPS Priority Mail, but if you have some special shipping needs, and would prefer a different method (UPS, FedEx, Reindeer, Packmule...), I will work with you, and the shipping cost will reflect the difference, even if it's less.

I ship every piece as soon as it's possible to send it. If It's a design that is in stock, I will mail it within 5 business days of payment, but if I have to make it, I'd like at least three weeks, unless it is a stitched piece, which might take as long as four weeks, but if it's a challenging new custom stitched design, it might take up to six weeks, and require some coorespondence, to get your approval for my final drawing.
Refunds and Exchanges
During my entire career, I've only been asked for one refund. Most people come back for more, but if the artwork that I send you is not up to your expectations, please send it back and I will send you your money back, as long as it has not been worn or altered.

If you decide that you'd like a different size, please send it with a stamped Priority Mail Envelope (preferably the same size and style that I use to send it to you), and a note that tells me what size you need, and as long as it hasn't been worn or altered, I'll be hapy to trade it for the size you want. Keep in mind that XXL and XXXL adds $5, and long sleeves add $10.
Additional policies and FAQs
For custom orders, I appreciate any help with a link to, or jpg of, the source that you'd like rendered, and I may need a bit more time for designs that I have to develop a new drawing for.

I do not offer a wholesale price on the stitched pieces, as they take about six hours to make, but for traditional designs, deals are available on orders of 2-4 dozen (25% off retail) and for orders of 4-6 dozen (33% off retail), and six dozen or more (50% off retail)~

Consignment~ I do not consign. I have consigned my work on four seperate occasions over the last twenty eight years, and if either of those stores ever falls back onto the face of the earth and pays me, I might change that policy, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Frequently Asked Questions~~

Will it shrink?
They have been laundered four times, and dried twice, so it should have done all the shrinking it's going to do, by the time it reaches you.

Should I wash it by itself?
The first and second times, yes. I wash it four times, and dry it twice, as part of the process, but after it has sat folded for a while, the dye 'relaxes' a bit, and it might discharge some blue water, which could stain your whites, but the colors on the piece itself, will not fade.
After it has been washed and worn twice, it should be OK with other bright colors, as long as those other bright colors have been washed without incident before~

Are there any other special washing instructions?
I wash mine as regular laundry, with my other bright colors, and they last for years, but I've had some friends tell me that they hand wash and hang to dry, which of course makes them last longer, but special care is not required.

Will I encounter a lot of groovy people if wear these?
Yes.
