Peacocks, graduate school & perseverance... oh my

:My Journey to Etsy:
Hand crafting and sharing my jewelry with the world has been a dream I have had since I was in high school. It was not until I met my husband and entered into a Ph.D program that this dream became a goal. After a year and a half of intense coursework, I was satisfied with my educational progress, but felt as if something was still missing from my life. During a mid-Spring semester freak out about what to do for work in the coming summer, it hit me, I had lost touch with my dream of making handcrafted jewelry, and in some ways the creativity that it brought out in me. Don't get me wrong, in graduate school you need to be creative, but your materials are journal publications, theories, writing and more writing, which were not really satisfying my creative desires. So my husband asked me, "What do you really want to do?" I thought about what I could do with my current education, which was conducting research for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, and nearly passed out. Then the light bulb over my head turned on, "I want to make again. I want to create and share my jewelry."

So with the support and help of my husband my dream has slowly become a reality–I began creating, crafting, and sharing my handmade jewelry. With the demands of graduate school it was not an easy decision to make, but once it started, it quickly became my obsession, and I plan to continue, no matter the demands of graduate school.

:My Shop:
The muse behind my creations are these little peacock sketches seen throughout my site, which were created during my masters education. I began to place these peacocks on all of my binders, books, notes, and anything else that would hold up to a Sharpie. I felt they added a little cheer and creative energy to what I was doing. Unknowingly my family, friends, and peers quickly picked up on my love for these little peacocks and they have been with me ever since.

The peacocks I hand draw are fun, quirky, light hearted, and crafted to shine a little light on my day, and it is this philosophy that has found its way into my jewelry. Like my little peacocks, every necklace, bracelet, and pair of earrings are one-of-a-kind. I do not replicate any of my pieces, even by request. The purpose behind my handmade wonders is to add a little quirk, fun, and cheer over your day and into your wardrobe. I am inspired by making the mundane a little brighter, and do so by repurposing new and vintage jewelry. However, every now and again a sparkly new charm, bobble, or bead catches my eye and finds its way into another unique piece. In my shop I like to work with customers, using what they once loved or forgot about to create a new piece with an old soul and new look for them.

Hello and Welcome to My Shop.

I love to making jewelry, and have done so for many years...

My jewelry crafting journey on Etsy has lead to the creation of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets from repurposed UpCycled jewelry and brand new charms, beads, and bobbles.

My favorite element of the hand making jewelry process is the ability to restore new life into jewelry that has been abandoned by its wearers. This inspiration is woven throughout my shop, as many necklaces and earrings incorporate UpCycled pieces from abandoned current and vintage jewelry.

I like to share this passion with others, working one on one with clients to craft custom pieces out of what was once worn, still loved, and now no longer used. If you have costume jewelry pieces you can’t part with them contact me, we can work together to craft new jewelry that will celebrate the past memories of these pieces in a new way.

As my journey on Etsy blooms my aim to increase the use of UpCycled and vintage beads, charms, and bobbles to create jewelry that tells a story of the past and present.

Additional policies and FAQs
I love to craft custom pieces out of what was once worn, still loved, and now no longer used. Below are the guidelines for your UpCycling Journey.

In order to create a new piece out of your old costume jewelry, I need to see what these pieces look like. I prefer the shipping of these items to my studio, so I can fully grasp the scale, texture, and colors of these pieces. However, I realize this is not always possible, in this case images of these pieces will also work, these can be emailed to me via ETSY conversations.

Once images are received I like to work one on one with you to determine how much of the design process you would like to be involved in. Do you have a future for your old costume jewelry planned? Turning your jewelry into a new necklace, earring, bracelet, headband, broach etc.. Or are you free flying without a trajectory? Just let me know.

This process will begin once we both agree on the final design and the cost. Once these details are agreed upon and payment is received, your piece will be crafted and shipped within one to two weeks, from the date your jewelry is received in my studio. I like to keep an open line of communication throughout the process, therefore I will let you know when your pieces have been received, crafted, and shipped.

I look forward to working with you!
