T'ikary (tee-kar-ee) Textiles is a social initiative that blossomed from the desire to empower mothers in Cusco, Peru to uplift themselves and their families from poverty. Through the crafts they know best--knitting and weaving--the women who comprise the T'ikary collective work with local artisans and mentors to design, handcraft, and set prices for the pieces they create.
We work in tandem with Corazón de los Apus, a local Peruvian NGO dedicated to helping children and families living in extreme poverty, and allocate 10% of all sales to assist with their organizational and programming costs.
In Quechua, an indigenous Andean language spoken by the women in our collective, t'ikary means "to bloom." Our mothers selected this name to reflect their hope for a more prosperous future. Thank you for supporting this vision!

5 out of 5 starsThese blankets from TikaryTextiles are such a unique find - soft high-quality material and beautifully hand-crafted. But more than that, the story of TikaryTextiles is inspiring, as they work to empower local women, especially in partnership with Corazón de los Apus. The communication was quick and professional, the shipping was easy and fast, and I could not be happier with the product!
