I've purchased several items from Lance and the quality of the work is superb!! I highly recommend his pottery and his shop. I had a question about the color of these plates and he replied right away, sent me extra pictures and shipped the items immediately after I purchased. They arrived perfectly packaged within 3 days and are even more beautiful in person! I love them ~ thanks again! :)

Decorative and functional ceramics by Lance Timco

I have been an artist/potter for over 38 years. I have worked for a number of production potters in the Western USA and have taught in Texas, California, Washington and Colorado. I enjoy the exchange of ideas, concepts and methodology with fellow artists. I have traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Central America, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. My work is exhibited in my studio, on-line and in galleries.

Pikes Peak Community College:
I am a faculty member and the ceramics chair at Pikes Peak Community College teaching all levels of ceramics.

Artist Statement:
I was first attracted to ceramics because of the joy I saw in the making. I delight in the knowledge gained of the past through the discovery of vessels and shards. I enjoy problem solving and seeking answers to complex questions of which the creation of ceramic objects lends itself. I produce functional and decorative stoneware vessels that may be glazed, ash glazed, Raku, faux-Raku, saggar or multi-fired pieces.

I begin my creative process with the rhythmic wedging of clay as I contemplate the series of forms to come. Using my own traditions, through a blend of concentration and relaxation, I find harmony in the forming, decorating and the finishing of each piece. I may draw a line, dip, pour or spray a glaze to create line with a variety of surface qualities. The intention is to provoke a tactile and visual intimacy, inviting contemplation. The concepts start in my heart, are created with my hands and in passing to the viewer, I hope that these sensibilities are transmitted from their hands to their heart.
